I picked up a stray kitten 17 years ago and she has been the best little companion i could ever imagine. In the past year she has lost her vision and I have tried to make the house as safe for her as possible and she seems to get around pretty well, but recently she has trouble using the littler box. I have placed mutliple boxes and tried various types of litter but she seems to miss the box 50% of the time and i just don't know what to do.

Can you offer any suggestions?

Sincerely thank you for any help!

If she is going close to but not IN the litter box, you might try surrounding it with either human incontinence bed pads or puppy pee pads.  You could put a puppy pee pad IN one litter box also.  Another problem could be if she is getting arthritic and getting into the box is hard for her.  Again, she would be going close to the box but not in it.  I actually procured two DOG litter boxes, which are large, low and very flat.  I use them for senile and sick cats, and I use them for training little kittens.  Here is a link to one place selling them (they are hard to find these days as dog folks are moving towards fake grassy boxes and pads).  This place says they have 20 left so you might want to get one and see if it helps, either with litter in it or with a pad in it.  You might even try using Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter because it has an attratcant in it they are drawn to by SMELL and even if she cannot see, she could possibly smell it (no smell for humans).  It's worth the price and they do give you a money back guarantee if your cat will not use it.  You can find it in most pet stores or also order from Amazon, particularly if you are an Amazon Prime member so shipping doesn't cost you anything.  A friend of mine uses it to prevent problems with her three cats and she gets it delivered by Amazon (because she's in that Prime club).
