Hi Everyone

I am new here and would like a little bit of advice. I am looking after my friends 12 week old kitten for a few nights this weekend, whom I have spent quite a bit of time with and he is lovely.  Now the problem is my house is actually anticipating the arrival of two furry babies in two weeks.  Me being WAY over excited have pretty much purchased everything for them already and have set up their "safe room" in our conservatory with all their toys beds etc.  So I have a few questions.

Should I keep him out of the conservatory away from what will be my two's scratch posts etc? Or will they not be bothered by his smell. (Roughly 11 days after he goes)

I have already purchased Feliway diffuser for when my two first arrive, would it be a good idea to use this to settle him in?

We have no other pets at the moment so that is not a problem.

As he is only 12 weeks he is not sexually matured, will the mean the chance of him spraying my house is less likely?

My main question really though is do I allow his to roam the conservatory and play on my twos toys? Or will he sent these items thus making them redundant to my two?

Haha sorry so many questions :-)

Hi and welcome to TCS!

I would treat the temporary kitten as if he was a new addition to your house (which he is).  Even though its probably not an issue, i would not let him into the conservatory room (why take a chance that the new cats will react when they arrive?) and I would put the 12 week old i his own small room like a bathroom with food, water and litter, and make sure that he is fully adjusted to the room by 1) not being afraid of nervous 2) eating/drinking and 3 using the litter box.  Only then would I (optionally) give him grater access to your home. At 12 weeks old he really doesn't need it, but its ok if you give him access.

A 12 week old kitten may have accidents but they are too young to mark territory by intentionally peeing.  You should have multiple litter boxes, and if its a multi story home he should have a box for every floor that you give him access to.

As to coming with toys, you should ask the owner to supply some, and possibly a shirt with the owner's scent.

Thanks Stephen

I thought as much that it wouldn't be worth the risk.  Ill keep all the items locked up away from him. :-)
