Good morning everyone :wavey: ;)

Very easy question today -

What is your first name ( given name ) ? Do you use this name or do you shorten it and/or have a nickname instead ?

My name is Gemma :D The only person who calls me Gemma is my mom :lol3:
Everyone else just shortens it to Gem ;)

I'm Laurie.  Growing up, I was referred to frequently with my middle name, Laurie Ann.  This, because my best friends name was Lori and the only way our parents could get us to respond to the right parent was to use the middle name also.

I have a few other nicknames now that I'm an adult.  The main one is my screen name that I use for internet presence - Sivyaleah.  This is actually a real name of mine.  I'm Jewish, and we're given Hebrew names at birth to honor relatives who have passed. I don't know if that's the real spelling, and I suspect it should be two words (Sivya Leah) but it looks right to me.

The rest are variations of another name I use for virtual worlds, which I'd prefer not to say only because I like to keep that part of my life a bit more private. However, it is close to Laurie, therefore, I have other nicknames which sprung out of it; El, Lora, Elle, E.

Pamela......Pam for short.

It's Pamela Sue and when Mom was angry with me, she'd always say, "Pamela Sue!" And then I knew I was in deep trouble!

Michelle. I have one friend who calls me Shell to this day (started to around 15 years ago), and my mom will sometimes call me Sieou-sieou, which would be shell-shell if not for her accent.
Everyone else calls me Michelle, which I prefer now that I'm not a little kid, but my dad will sometimes call me by my Chinese name "Wai Man", but I think he's the only one who ever does now.

My name is Susan but I have always been called Susie (except at some places where I've worked, for some reason they have a hard time not calling me Susan which of course is on all my "official" paperwork.  I just answer to it.  Whatevs.).  One of my grandmothers was also named Susie, but that was her real name, not a nickname.

I go by my middle name, and because of my history of working in law enforcement I go by my last name too.  Some have shortened my name from Suzanne to Suz which is OK, but for Heaven's sake don't EVER call me Susan.  Drives me insane.

My name is Rena. There's really no way to shorten it. I really don't like my name because almost every person I've met either can't pronounce it or can't spell it. It's pretty simple to pronounce, it's just like the word 'arena' without the a in front. Most of the time people call me Renee, and I don't know where that comes from because it has an A at the end not E. Combine that with my married last name which nobody ever gets right either (for some reason people change an R to an N) and my name gets butchered quite often.

My name is Karen. People would call me "Ka".. and my sister would call me "Ka-Ka" which drives me crazy. She's gotten my nieces to call me "Aunt Ka-Ka".. come on, sounds like what one would call poop!

My dad calls me "Ber", "Berry", or "Beryl" which I think its cute.

Alyssa. I had different nicknames with different people growing up.

My cousins would call me Lyss or Lyssa or Lizard... the last one I don't even know why lol.

Elementary school friends would call me Lyss or Lissie, the ones from that time that I am still friends with still to this day call me Lissie. I don't mind really, it's only like 3 people.

When I was in highschool I just went by Alyssa but my close group of friends called me Loo which was basically just a shortened version of Lissie-Loo. My Law teacher (11 & 12th grade), some of the other male teachers and sports coaches(they were all friends) called me by my last name more than my first.
