I'm 90 percent certain that my kitty is a Bombay, mostly anyway. She is almost solid black with a white heart shape on her belly. Fur like satin, underside is brownish in sunlight.
Her eyes started out gold. And turned green. She has tufts on her ear tips. I can't see any tabby like marks.
Thank you.

Black cats occur in quite a few other breeds, including the random population. Without knowing her parentage she is considered a Domestic Shorthair (DSH). I'm afraid I don't see any Bombay in her. Check out the pictures and breed standards on the cfa.org or tica.org websites. Bombay cats have wider rounded heads and the ear tips are rounded as well. The body is more medium, not long and slinky like your kitty. The eyes are gold or copper, never green. They must be solid black with no white anywhere.

Where did you get your kitty? Do you know anything about her background? What is her name?

Her name is Delilah. I found her in downtown Los Angeles by highway ramp. She was about 7 weeks old. She had gold eyes as a kitten and, honestly, her behavior does match that of a Bombay. She is not very vocal and her fur is satiny soft. She socializes with strangers and walk on a leash.

Hi,

It does seem very, very unlikely that a Bombay kitten would be abandoned at 7 weeks old by a highway ramp.

And as GoldyCat pointed out - other that the black fur your cat doesn't really resemble a Bombay.

I hope you're not too dissapointed that your kitty probably isn't a Bomay or Bombay mix.

I am not dissapointed. People, strangers, and ask me if she is a Bombay. She is "lean" looking b/c she had nasty worms and has only just started thickening up since her most recent Veterinary visit. Also, her eyes were gold first and green later on. So people kept asking me the Bombay question so I looked it up and all her weird personality traits that I never saw in a cat before fit her purr-fectly. I never said she was completely a Bombay, but a lot you all don't mention does apply. I am not sure where solid black nose and Quakers may fit. She does have the correct fur texture, disposition, social behavior, and stuff that does fit. And as I sauerkraut, her eyes were once gold. She looks like a little black panther, till you see the white on her tummy and the 1black hair on her back. Honestly, she acts very dog like.

What I am saying is that I do not think Delilah is a full blooded Bombay, but, I do believe she has some in her and the it is what drives her personality. Someone did tell me that the little tufts on her ears is from Wildcat being in her blood. Idk about that. I'll try to get a few more pictures as like your face and stuff on here too.

Why is it so important for you that she should be a Bombay-Mix?

And no, many cats have ear tuffs, that is no sign that she's part wildcat. Which is a good thing, as a domestic shorthair - wildcat hybrid would have too many wildcat genes, making such a cat not suitable as a pet.

The only thing important to me about Delilah is it she is a happy healthy kitty. What is bothering me is that I joined this site because I love my cat and I want to talk to other people aboutcats. After I put up this post however, and the only 2 replies i got were only about how I am just so wrong and you, in fact, said that I'm so wrong that not only is she not a Bombay she's not even got it in her. She is what she is: my sweet baby girl. I do not like being told I am completely wrong just because someone thinks I am incorrect. Maybe she does not have any. Personally, I think she does. IDK I might be wrong. Never said I knew. I never said I could not be right. Don't you think it a little rude to tell someone that you are right and they cannot be. Also, the veterinarian never corrected me on her breed.

She's a beautiful girl. I love the way you've bought her a purple collar and purple toys, they go so well with her colouring.

With a stray cat it's impossible to know exactly where they got their looks from so you could be right, she could have some Bombay in her family tree.

Thank you for rescuing this sweet girl. I can't believe that anyone would dump this poor little thing near the highway.

I know. I never could figure out how she got there. There are some upscale apartments 4 lanes across the street, but she was half starved and bloody and ate up with fleas. She was a sorry sight, then.
