Hi, I'll be taking my kitten home in a few days insha'allah

But I have a few questions that have been on my mind and I need your advice
Hi

Personally I wouldn't adopt kittens just before i went to college, its your parents who should be adopting because they will really be theirs.  They need to be on board with everything.

The older they get the harder it will be to socialize so if you are going to adopt, now is a good time if the parents are on board with intensive socializing.  Adopting two is good for them, because they will also have each other, but they can't be allowed to just e friends with each other, they must socialize with people.  You may be able to get away with just lots of gentle handling, but it may take more than that.  See links below on socializing kittens, I know the guy who does this and it works!

You mentioned an eye issue.  It could be an upper respiratory illness developing so I would take them in for a baseline vet exam at the least shortly after getting them home. Bring a stool sample.

Assuming the current owner hasn't done anything medically, you should be prepared for any or all of the following:

- FIV and FeLV testing

- Multiple de-worming

- Age appropriate vaccinations (FVRCP and later Rabies)

- Possible treatment for URI's.

Be prepared to spend between $500-$1000 per kitten in their first year of life on everything, food, litter, vet visits, toys etc

Thank you very much! And sorry for the very late replay, I was quite busy with the adoption and applying for college :)

In the end Mum said she preferred having just one cat in the house, so we ended up getting only one kitten

It has went smoother than I thought
, he isn't that shy, he doesn't like to be held or cuddled though, but enjoys some head and chin rubbing when he is relaxed
He is starting to come sleep with me in bed too

I read the articles and I'm trying to apply it, to help my kitty settle in faster

I will be taking him to the vet today insha'allah for a check up, There are a few things I'm concerned about, so hopefully he's healthy
