I have an 8 month old domestic long hair who my boyfriend and I adopted a few months ago after finding her on the side of the road. She has been perfectly healthy until a few weeks ago when she got constipated after we went away for a weekend and took her with us. She had no bowel movements due to being nervous in a new place. We took her to the vet and she got an enema to clean her out and we were given some medication to give her as well as catlax and fiber to mix in with her food. It is now a week after the enema and she is backed up again, even though we are giving her the meds etc. Does anyone have any advice to help her pass bowels because we cant really afford to and get her cleaned out at the vets eery few weeks. She is on a mix of dry and wet food as well as making sure she drinks water so I don't think it is due to dehyration. Please help!!!

I would switch her to exclusively wet food and add some plain canned pumpkin to the mix.  You can also use Slippery Elm Bark on a consistent basis to help keep things moving.  Here's a very long thread on using it to help with ongoing constipation issues.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/270597/slippery-elm-bark-wet-food-managing-constipation   It sounds like you might be in the UK, so I'm not sure what's available where you live, but you might try some calming agents such as Feliway or Rescue Remedy to help her de-stress a bit.

Thanks very much. I did see that a lot of people were suggesting pumpkin so I might give that a shot. I'm actually in Australia so I'm not sure what sort of calming agents they have but ill check it out. She still purrs like crazy every time you start patting her so she hasn't seemed overly stressed, that's why I haven't even thought of it before now. :)
