I would like to hear some rescue stories from real people!
Here is my rescue story: One day, I was in my backyard with my sister and we kept hearing this high-pitched sound coming from the bushes; we thought it was a bird! So we looked in the bushes and there was a small, dirty kitten trapped in the bushes! Now, there was a fence cutting us off with the neighbors, and the kitten was on the other side. So, we went to the neighbors door but they didn't answer. We went into their yard anyway and saved the young kit! The kitten must of gotten separated from her mother and got lost. She was obviously a stray so we kept her and we still have her! Her name is Midnight because she is black! A couple weeks after we saved her, we kept seeing a grown-up,long-haired, black cat coming around our backyard. We think that was Midnight's mother. It's only been 3 years since this happened, and since then I haven't seen the mama cat. Right now, Midnight is very plump, cute, and cuddly!!! Remember to write your rescue stories here!!! Thanks!

glad you were able to rescue the baby. 4 of my 5 cats were neighborhood strays. They just all showed up around the house so we started feeding them and eventually took them in. My neighbor works for a humane society, she had a kitten that had to have her eye removed. We adopted her.

Very sweet story!

I have 4 cats, 3 of them are rescue cats. Baby, who is 10y/o, was found in a pedestrian garbage can when she was just a few days old. Her eyes weren't even open yet! I brought her home and the rest is history! Odie is next in line...he's a 7y/o male, persian. Very handsome. I actually purchased him from a pet store. While i love him dearly, i'd never ever purchase an animal from a mill again! Ive learned the horrors over the years and it's just wrong to sustain such a market. Third and fourth in line are two 5 month old kittens, Iggy and Inky. They are brothers and were rescued at different times. Iggy came first: one night in april, my dad heard loud cries of a cat while using the rest room. I was in my room and didnt hear anything. He came to me and asked me to go down and find out if the cat needed help. He thought a cat was stuck somewhere and needed help getting free. I took some cat food and went down to investigate the matter. I opened my front gate and found tiny kitten running around, shrieking. I dont know where he came from or what happened to his mama, but he was here. There was a man standing by trying to feed him milk in a bowl, which he wasnt drinking. I told the man to take the kitten home and he said he already had a cat and didnt think he could handle another. I was confused as to what i should do next. I opened my front gate to call my sister down, and the kitten zoomed inside my house. Since he had decided where he wanted to go, i couldnt kick him out! My entire family welcomed this tiny kitten home with open arms. He was about three weeks when he adopted us, and we named him Iggy. His name absolutely complements his personality!

Fourth in line is Inky. I believe he is Iggy's brother. After we brought Iggy home, we kept hearing faint meows of a kitten for the next few days but couldnt locate him. In the following weeks my dad spotted a kitten about Iggy's age running across the street around our home. Again, we couldnt get a hold of him. However, one day, on July 19, my sister and I were walking home from the subway on a busy street when we spotted a kitten about Iggy's age, now 4 months. The streets were crowded with people and loud noises from the traffic filled the air. We were astonished as to how he ended up in such a street! He was playing with some plants that were growing against a wall. Thinking it wasnt safe for him to
hang out in such an area, we decided we should at least move him to an inside street. So my sister picked him up and immediately she noted he was so light. He never hissed at us or fought with us to let him go. We decided to bring him to our back yard so we could feed him. In the mean time my sister made several phone calls to find a home for him. He was so tiny and underweight, and we were afraid to leave him on his own. One person agreed to take him, so we brought him home and cleaned him up. The next day the potential adopter backed out. Since we had three other cats in the house, we decided we needed to take him to the vet asap to make sure he's ok. We got an appointment for the next day and in the meantime, kept him separate from the rest of the gang.

The next morning I woke up and found him playing and running across the room. I went to the kitchen to prepare his food, and when I came back he was lying on the floor. He didn't move even after seeing the plate of food in my hand. I walked over to him and picked him up to put him before the food plate and he just collapsed! He couldn't stand up at all. His head was wobbling, and the only thing he could do was lie on the floor. We rushed him to the humane society and the vet there told us he had some nasty disease and he was going to die. She told us to put him to sleep. We didn't feel comfortable with that because we didn't even know what was going on. My sister, who is a bit more brave than me, asked the vet to give him some subcutaneous fluids and a dewormer. She also requested the vet to perform FIV/Felv tests. The vet was hesitant and insisted we were wasting our money but we stood our ground. The FIV/Felv tests came back negative. The vet ordered some more tests like the corona virus titer and toxo titers. We brought the kitten, who we named Inky, home, and after talking to some very kind ppl on this site, we started giving inky pedialyte. His appetite was excellent all along. Over the next two days, he got worse. He started having muscle spasm--his body would freeze up, and if he tried moving, it would thrash back and forth. Something was wrong in the motor neuron pathways, I'm sure. He was such a fighter! Even in his state of immobility, he'd drag himself to the litter box. A few times he had spasms while using the box, and he ended up urinating outside. We continued giving him pedialyte and nutri-cal. He ate on his own, we never had to syringe him with food. Inky showed no signs of improvement and hope was beginning to dwindle. On day three my sister and I could no longer fight falling asleep, and we both drifted off. Three hours later, we were awakened by Inky's running across the room! He was zooming across the room and tugging at my sister's blanket to wake her up! We both woke up and were so shocked, our hearts were racing with excitement! An hour later, I got a call from the vet who said his bloodwork was remarkable. There was nothing wrong with Inky.

I don't know what was wrong with Inky, or what made him sick, to this day. All I know is that I love him. After all we went through, I couldn't imagine giving him up to anyone. He has some neurological issues--coordination is a little off, has trouble jumping to high spots. But it's not getting worse and he has no spasms. He is as independent and playful as the rest of the gang. Iggy and Inky have become best of buds and are inseparable.

Thanks so much for responding! That story almost made me cry!! You're so nice to let all those cats stay with you!! That's so sad for a kitty to have spasms like that!! You must of been so scared! Odie is BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE Persians; I wish I could afford one, though. Well, good luck with your sweet kitties and thanks! :)

Yes, I was so scared for his life. One of my cats died this past December and I was afraid I would lose another. I am beyond grateful that he made it :D

Odie is definitely very handsome. He's also the most vocal and very much into humans. He takes more interest in humans than the cats around him. I find him to be very intelligent and sweet, but the others are sweet too. In my experience, the breed of the cat really doesn't matter. The bond you form with them transcends all physical beauty.

Thanks for allowing me to share my story! :rbheart:
