Shes devoloped ulcers in her mouth. The vets are still staying hopeful. Ive been twice today to visit her. Said good night to her and prayed that she will be better soon. She fell asleep with me there. But the vet said 3 days and we should think about euthanasia. :( I am just distraught. My little baby. I just want her better. I want her in my lap so I can cuddle her and make her feel loved. I feel so lost. Im just hoping she improves. I cant think about losing her. The thought just tears me in two. Ive never loved a pet so much and im so scared.

I'm so sorry to hear that you and Kali are going through this. I really hope she starts to feel better soon.

Are the mouth ulcers what caused her to stop eating? My FIV cat, Harvey, used to get mouth ulcers and we used to have to syringe feed him until they healed. Our vet used to prescribe antibiotics for them. What is Kali getting for her ulcers?

This is my first reply, however, I've been following your posts since before Kali's surgery and my heart is breaking for both Kali and you for having to go through this ordeal.   I really hope she starts to feel better soon, so she can go home and enjoy the pampered life she deserves.

Well to start off, seeing her yesterday was just awful. I wasnt sure she could get better. I woke up at 2am with this horrible feeling. I called the vet at 7:30, they told me she was great but her vet wouldnt be in until 8. 7:45, I got a call telling me that she was really perky today and happy to see her. I visited her at 11 and she was very happy. We listened to some music, I sang to her and she gave me head bumps and purrs. They told me she's peed a few times in the morning and she was getting more interested in her food. She was drooling quite a bit yesterday but today its next to none! Her ulcers haven't gone down but the fact she stopped drooling was a good sign. When my partner and I went to visit her at 6pm. She LOVED seeing her daddy. She even started eating in front of him and licking gravy off his fingers! She was so excited to see him she couldnt stop purring and rubbing up against his beard so it was beautiful to see that. The vet also said she peed twice beween 12pm and 5pm and then she peed again in front of us so hurray!! Im so proud of her. Shes not out of the woods yet but shes showing some fantastic signs! :)

Anyway, I got the pathology results back and it was a bad tumour (cancer) and would have caused glaucoma eventually. There is a risk that she could develop it later on it life but for now shes safe.

So here's a litte snapshot of her life. Abandoned at 5 days old, developed pneumonia, told to put her down, I refused. 15 months later cancer in the eye, eye removal, bad post recovery, renal failure and out of ALL of this, she has pulled through and stayed strong. Depending on her tests results tomorrow she should be home by friday! Then the real test begins, how her kidneys hold up when shes not hooked up to an IV.

Please continue your prayers!
Here she is yesterday:

And today:

Oh wow!  She looks totally different in her "after" pic!  So glad she's doing better and perking back up.  Those torties are tough kitties and that "tortitude" gets them through a lot.  Being loved by a tortie is one of the best things in life.

Well I saw the vet today and she said kali's blood has returned to normal even lower than normal which is great! Shes still isnt eating much so we're going to bring her chicken in some beef stock to hopefully entice her tomorrow. Until shes eating something she'll be able to come home so we're hoping Monday. :D so excited to have my baby back after 6 DAYS! ITS BEEN TORTURE! Ive never been away from her for so long. She doesn't even seem to be anxious being away from us, all the vets have been making her feel very loved and cared for. So that puts alot of my motherly instincts to rest now knowing my baby isnt fretting at all. She seems to love them. Purrs and gives them smooches so Im glad they dont just ignore them during the day and only feed them and check on them, they actually give them individual love. :) I really have so much respect for the team there. They're not trying to rush her out, they want her completely well before they send her home and still the bill is under $100 for 6 days of intense medical treatment. They really understood how broke we were after the surgery. They all know her now and say shes the sweetest. They're never bothered when I call as soon as they open (7:30am) and always not only will get her main vet to call me when she gets in but will calm my mind by telling me how she went overnight. Its like they understand my anxiety. They're compassionate.
Anyway here is collage of her progress:

So excited to have her home and get her back to her usual routine.

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words. Even though it was mainly kind words and a little advice, it helped immensely just to know others cared about her and understood how scared we were for her. So many family members havent understood how terrifying it was for us. They turned they're backs on us. Said for us to grow up and stop being to emotional because shes "just a cat". And its like NO SHES MY BABY. So thank you everyone for providing a space for worried kitty parents to vent and just feel supported.
It really means alot. ♡

More to come tomorrow (Saturday) won't be able to visit her Sunday :( but she should be home Monday!! I dont think I've wanted a weekend to go fast so Monday would arrive.

And thank you. I have never been so amazed by a creatures resilience to survive against everything that is thrown at her. She was named Kali for a reason. Shes a warrior that will destoy anything to survivor. I think Ill always love Torties ♡♡♡

I can't believe her transformation in such a short period of time.  Good for Kali, the vet staff, and for you.  Can't wait for you to have her home again.  Come on, Kali!!

You gotta love those tortoiseshells.

So strong and so sweet.

Maybe the drugs had her too sedated.Ive seen this in humans

as well. They sleep so much and lose appetite and sense of thirst.

But she hasnt lost her love for you two.

Hello everyone! More fantastic news to share. Kali is eating once again! :D the vet said she ate in the morning but I cooked her some chicken and beef broth and she LOVED it. Licked at the broth and nibbled at the chicken. My partner tore up the chicken for her into little pieces and she gobbled up a little more. She was just really happy to see us again. I really wanted her to know that we havent abandoned her, I wanted her to know we were there for her and she would be coming home. I wanted to inspire her to keep going. I was scared if she thought we had forgotten about her or abandoned her she might not feel the motivation or strength to get better. I wanted to give her every reason not to give up because she is so loved in our family. My partners dad calls himself pop to our pets, my mum and aunty were crying with me when they heard she might pass away but she is now completely on the mend. Im so proud of her ♡♡ here she is today (keep in mind she was so distracted by her daddy and the smell of the food she couldnt stay still):

So happy to hear that Kali is eating. That is definitely a good sign. And I'm sure your regular visits are helping keep her spirits up.  Hopefully Monday she will be back home again.

Thankfully she isnt coming home this weekend as I actually not only had my nephews birthday (too much noise for a recovering kitty) and Sunday I have to help my mother move so I wouldnt be able to be home and watch her. So Monday couldnt be better. I can spend all day at home with her making sure shes drinking and eating. :) it helps my seperation anxiety better. Hahaha and the vet said if she continues eating like she is then she can come home :) her ulcers are all better!!
