the overall look is of a Russian Blue. So seeking in the RB circuits is a hot tip.
The problem, and possibly also the good new, is his white spot on the chest. RB arent supposed to have such. IF he is purebred, this is considered as a fault and he is considered therefore as pet quality. Never shows and probably no breeding. This fault does happens now and then, I myself know a swedish RB breeder who has one such as companion cat to her others breeding cats. This women knows literally every purebred russian blue in Sweden.
But this means also, its easier to have him recognized. If you find someone with deep knowledge of the british RB, you will prob get some advices as whom he can be and to whom he is supposed to belong.
Tx for caring and helping out this guy!
Good luck!
ps. Otherwise, you can contact vets around - they usually get noted about disappeared cats.
Shelters around and your local "Animal Friends Society".
Police, if the british police is supposed to register disappeared cats (the swedish police do, but they arent much eager with it).
ps2. IF purebred, the chance is good he is chipped, pet quality or not. All vets and the police stations are supposed to have readers, and read off for free. At least in Sweden.
I suppose most decently big shelter do also have such readers.
ps. Dont tell EXACTLY every detail. Let the owner identyfy herself be giving the last, lacking detail.
Awwww poor little thing. You could call battersea dogs and cats home to see if anyone is looking for him or take him to your vet to see if he has a chip. Good luck!
Thanks guys. But everywhere seemed to be shut on a Sunday and Battersea Dogs Home said 'no' to me bringing kitty in despite having one space left. Tomorrow is a bank holiday but I'm crossing my fingers the local vet will open.
Immediately thought RB as your classic silvery cat but doubted he was show quality; he's quite obviously someone's very cuddly and beautiful pet. He's asleep on my bed and my poor cat has to sleep outside the bedroom
Registered the kitty as found/missing with Battersea anyway and sent the picture along. Catchat forum as well
I do hope I can get him home...dad won't have another kitty. He hates mine already.
Spents 2 hours sitting outside in the rain hoping my vet would open up (no mention on their website or answerphone then walked it down to Battersea where after another hour they took little silver fluff off my hands. Apparently his microchip is registered to a French address. I hope his owners just moved in and he wandered off rather than having been stolen. A bengal, two ragdolls and my bf's burmese were once stolen; the bengal escaped and once the thieves realised we were on to them the burmese was released the second missing posters went up. I don't want to jump to conclusions but ut maddens me that stealing certain cats to order is still a big thing. My first thought with this kitty was 'you look expensive... It's not safe for you out here.'
I have a ref number from Battersea so I'll be following up on kitty (let's call him Totoro) closely.
I'm glad that Battersea dog's and cat's home took him in, if he is lost that will probably be the first place his owners will start their search as he was found so close. My parents got two dogs and a cat from there when I was growing up, it's a fantastic place. Fingers crossed it will all work out for the little fella. He's lucky it was you that found him and it's good that you will be checking up on him to see how thing's are going.
That's what I'm hoping, too, that they will look there first if it is a case of new locals who didn't update their chip details.
Having seen him wandering about previously and watching people gawk at him on the common so close to cars then walking away I just had to say 'right, you need to be removed from this situation now' and scooped him up in my arms.
Kind of miss the baby :0 His face buried in my stomach, both paws wrapped around me clinging like crazy purring away... Must have been so scared and alone.
Going to email them now. It hasn't been long but I wonder if they tried contacting the owners yet.
