Okay I aplogize if this is the wrong place to post this but I don't know what to do!! So my cat is 12 years old she's my precious baby and I can't lose her. When I moved out of my house she seemed to be depressed and upon moving back in I realized she no longer "yelled" anymore. Honestly she used to be the loudest cat you could hear her from across the house so when I returned and she was half meowing seeming strained I was concerned , but my mom told me not to worry that she probably just had yelled too loud and strained her vocals. Seemed to make sense and she was still eating, drinking, and full of energy like usual so I shrugged it off. But then about maybe a month ago she started meowing really weird. I've been searching for what's wrong but everyone says its normal and some cats do it. Its like a weird aquatic sounding meow or motor sounding. But still she seemed perfectly normal with her eating habits so I thought she was okay.. Now I've just realized that she has begun coughing and kind of wheezing when she purrs like this. Its to the point where I'm torn because I just want to hold her and make it better but everytime I even slightly pet her that damn purr starts and she starts coughing. Just about two hours ago I realized she's opening her mouth to breathe and it looks like its hard for her. She's still fine and demanding treats and water from the tap as usual but I really don't know what to do. She seems to have more coughing fits at night. I really want to help her but aside from taking her to the vet for expensive tests I don't know what I can do and will probably be taking her on my day off on Tuesday. This is more about should I

take her sooner? And what might be wrong with her? I hope someone can help. Thank you if you read all of this and any insight would be amazing..
