Hello,

I forgot to introduce us!

(I like to tell long stories, so please allow me to indulge myself)

I'm an adopter and caretaker of three sweet kitty girls. I've lived with and loved three kitties before, for a few years, but they were senior cats and eventually passed away, one by one. One of them was my Soul Cat and he taught me how to be a cat whisperer. They belonged to my ex-husband, and were not really "mine" in that sense. A few more years passed and I missed having kitties to take care of. I'm low-income and was debating whether I could pull it off. I researched my options and found a few organizations that cater to low-income pet owners here in the city. As someone who has been coping with PTSD, cats are extremely therapeutic and lighten my emotional and mental load. I have been dreading waking up in the morning for years and years, until now!

To prove that I'm a good cat mom, I'll share that I'm reading two books about natural pet care and started feeding them cooked chicken with brown rice (brewer's yeast order is on the way from Amazon).

Lilac is the 5 month old kitten, tabby / Sophie is the older cat (1 year old?) maine coon mix - a man in my neighborhood was selling them on the street, like a piece of property. I've never done such a thing before and never will again, but knew there was a great chance of them ending up in the wrong sort of hands. I did not want them to be apart, so I got them both. I believe that they are daughter and mother. Lilac is easy-going, assertive and the most affectionate. Sophie is a traumatized cat. She does not allow me to get near her face. Something about her is very feminine and so I gave her a French name. I know that cats like her end up euthanized, so all the more reason for me to lavish her with love.

Firebird is another 5 month old kitten; gray and white with mystical eyes...I saw a picture of her and instantly fell in love, then got her from the no-kill shelter. She's a whirlwind, so I felt that the name was appropriate. She was a stray in someone's yard.

I'm embarrassed to admit that the past month I've spent just getting accustomed to them and to their needs. Friends think I'm a crazy cat lady now who barely has time for anything else - like a social life. (Today, for example, was the day Lilac and Sophie finally got spayed and had all their shots, but I did not have time to get anything else done).

My biological clock kicked in and I could not go one more day without taking care of a little somethin'. However, 3 cats is the maximum I can take care of.

Hope there are others out there like me.

Oh, they're so cute.  Lucky kitties that you're being such a good cat mom.
