My adorable sweetie baby Cali, the Calico, is a beautiful adorable strong kitty, but she is obese and I'm trying not to worry, but I am very concerned about her.  Due to economics, I've been feeding her Purina Naturals because it is safer and a healthier alternative to the mainstream commercial products they have, but now I'm considering transitioning her over to something healthier and a bit more expensive like Wellness, but I need advice and I need to be sure before I do it.  I'd really appreciate it if an Intuitive, an animal psychic would do a reading for her and tell me what you see in her.  I'm fairly Intuitive when it comes to humans and animals, but I'm not totally certain about  my fur baby.  There is often food in her furball spitups and she is hungry often.  I don't know if there is a "normal" amount of appropriate feedings for a 9 yo old Calico girl throughout the day and night, but she drags me out of bed when I'm 1/2 asleep to go feed her 6 times every morning and I need to find a way to feed her less and help her so she's not hungry all the time.  Does anyone know about Wellness food and do you have much success with it and would recommend it or is there an even better healthier brand that would be better for her?  After receiving a couple recommendations for it, I thought about feeding her a small amount of wet food so I don't have to keep adding water and to experiment and see how she responds to it, but before I make any decisions, I'd appreciate some helpful advice and suggestions before I do this.  I need to find a solution asap. Thank you for your help.

This is a good resource with a lot of good info about helping a kitty lose weight http://www.catinfo.org/?link=felineobesity

A food that is high protein and low carbs is the best for weight loss, and healthiest for a kitty.  That same website has a chart with the protein, fat and carb percentages for most foods sold in the U.S.  You want to go by the dry matter percentages.

Weight loss will need to be done very slowly to avoid a liver condition called hepatic lipidosis.  Overweight cats are at higher risk of developing this liver condition.  Do you know what her ideal weight is?  The rule of thumb for avoiding fatty liver is at least 15 calories per pound of kitty's ideal weight.

This is a long thread about an obese foster that one of the members here worked with.  He went from 27 pounds to 15 pounds.  It was a slow process which is the safe healthy way to do it.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/245236/mickey-my-27-lbs-foster-and-his-journey-back-to-a-healthy-weight
