Hi everyone!

So here's the skinny: on Saturday my fiancé and I adopted our first fur child! That being said, we are brand new cat parents, as in, we have never raised a cat before, so you'll probably see us starting multiple threads on cat related things!

This is Pandora, she is eight weeks old, and a little endless ball of energy! That being said, we have so many questions! First off, we were told that she was a Macral tabby cat, a domestic shorthair. At the same time, we have been combing through internet pictures and we noticed that she doesn't look like a domestic shorthair kitten...does anyone know what type of cat she is?

If anyone could help us out, that would be great!

Also, we look forward to hearing from you soon :)

Hi, welcome to The Cat Site.

What a beautiful kitten. She does look a little too fluffy to be a DSH. It's really just a description of the length of a cat's fur rather than a specific breed. There are also Domestic Medium Hair and Domestic Long Hair cats, but as she is still at the fluffy kitty stage it's too early to say exactly what her coat will look like when she grows up.

Enjoy your new kitten, she looks like she is going to be lots of fun.

, we were told that she was a Macral tabby cat, a domestic shorthair.
I suppose when you look closely, you can seethe revealing M on her forehead, and also some stripes?  That is why she is called for a macquerel tabby.

Macquerel?  The same word as for that rneowned striped fish - the same spelling - if may spelling is wrong you can correct it yourself.   :)

On my monitor I dont see these signs clearly.

The colors, grey is called for blue in the cat fanciers language - so she is a blue and white macquerel tabby.

Re the lengh of the fur, Norachan has explained.  It may be difficult to know on a kitten. You will see more clearly in a couple of months.

As now its sooner medium lengh...   If the tail when she is calm, is bushy, she is defintitely medium lengh.  If its not bushy at all - yes, it can be shorthair for real.

Welcome and good luck!
