cat experts and cat lovers,I recently bought a kitten off a random seller. All of the genuine breeders were out of kittens and I was desperate for a new kitten so I went to gumtree where they were selling russian blues for 350. When i asked she said the mums mum was pure bred russian blue with papers and the dad they were told is pure russian blue.

i dont mind if they are not pure russian blues and i dont think they are but i wanted to know how pure do you think these kittens are. im taking a girl for £350.

Purebred Russian Blues are supposed to have green eyes so I'm guessing he isn't a purebred. He's a fine handsome cat though. I guess you just have to decide if they're decent respectable people who take good care of their cats, and if you're willing to pay that much for a mixed-breed cat. If you want a purebred you'll just have to wait for a respected breeder to have some registered kittens available.

Yeah, adult russians shall have green eyes. Although It happens on some pics they seems to be yellow.  I saw once a seemingly yellow eyed RB, but the pic text told he was just back after winning a big title on a Show.  Thus, he must have been beautifully green eyed, but looked yellow on that pic, in that light.

But if his eyes ARE yellow for real - nay, he cant be purebred, or in any case, he is at best pet quality, nowhere of  show quality, and  not of breeding quality either.

Unless you are almost void of decent studs and really desperate for new fresh blood.

In such cases they admit sometimes into breeding programme studs who are healthy and excellent in every other way, although faulty in appareance.

But here it was not a try to save a breeding programme, but just a BYB.   *sadly smile*

Otherwise, he seems like a nice RB stud.  Well muscled and nicely masculine without overdoing it, and with this mean expression russian toms are supposed to have, especielly in the scandinavian lines.

but this cruelty and meaniness is just a fold above their eyes - they are typically very mild and kind fellows, both to their humans and to their wives.

Kittens seems OK look alikes, but what they shall be, we cant know as yet.

Good luck!
