Hi everyone, I am very new to Forums and not sure if I have pressed the  correct button but here goes.  My husband and I are almost 70 and are home all day,  We have a Granddaughter who works in a Vet Clinic and is at University hoping to become a Vet.  She suggested we get a kitten to keep us company so we now have Zeva.  She is a sweet little thing, 10 weeks now and she has us well trained.  She sleeps right next to me at night and is very good at getting me up when she is hungry, usually around 8 am.  We love her dearly and have bought her lots of toys,  Does anyone have any advice on choosing a Condo style play centre for her?  I am wondering if we should wait until we see how big she is going to be.  Right now she has a couple of scratching posts that she is using.  I would also like some advice on cat litter for her.  I am using Yesterday's News as that is what she was used to but I am not sure I like it as it is difficult to remove the wet. I am looking forward to using this site for advice and information.

Hi.   Is that Zeva in your avatar?  If so, she is very cute.   I would suggest waiting till she's full grown to get her a condo, so you'll know what size would be best.  As for litter, I've only used clumping, so I can't advise on other types.

Welcome to the site :wavey:

Zeva is one beautiful kitten :heart3: So pretty :D

You will get more advise on cat litter types if you ask your question in the care and grooming forum. But I think cat litter is a bit of personal preference - what one person likes another person doesn't.
I think it's just a bit of trial and error until you find one that works for both you and your kitty ;)

Thanks so much for the reply, Your kitty is gorgeous. I think Ziva might have a bit of Maine Coon in her as her coat is getting longer as she grows.  I love the Maine Coon so I hope she turns out to be at least part of one!!  Yes, the litter is probably a personal choice so I might try and change her to something else.  I see you are from England, we are originally from Yorkshire but have lived in Canada since 1972.

I was allergic to clay based litter, wheezing etc.

We have new kinds made out of recycled materials.

It is expensive, called swheat, controls odors well.

I tried one that was pellets, smelled like pine, girl cat shunned this.

They,of course are used to the pricey one,so.
