Insurance....a good thing or a bad deal? We have one of our rescues with one vet bill after another!!
Thought I might look into it for him....$550 in the last month...really tough n retirement budget.
Any thoughts?

Yes, I feel your pain!

I was just the other day looking in to insurance for several "estate" cats who, when adopted into their new homes, we will be paying for their medical bills the rest of their lives, so decided insurance is the way to go!

Be sure to read through each of the better rated plans, they all are pretty different actually.

I have five cats with insurance, four have had it for 4+ years and one just got insurance about 3 months ago (he just turned 1). They only have accident and illness insurance that does not cover yearly exams and shots. I got a care credit card for vet bills (with the no interest pay plans) and then submit for insurance and it works well. I have one cat (Puma) that's had a liver biopsy, ultra sound, x-rays and several full panel blood tests and the money i got back from insurance has paid the premiums for all the cats for the past 4+ years. So the money back from insurance in reality went to premiums. Two of the cats get "ktty colds" 2-3 times a year and the vet bill is around $60 every time and i get reimbursed about $45. I took one to the emergency vet and the bill was $1088 and I got back $660 of it. I also have one that has never claimed on her insurance so I'm happy she's healthy but have been spending about $180 a year for nothing. I would recommend insurance from my experence.
