My two year old cat Buster, had FHO surgery on Wednesday, he is home but I have some questions about his recovery. He stayed 4 nights in the hose he was still in a lot of pain and not really eating.   Well he is finally home and he is dragging the surgically repaired leg behind him. It is like it is paralyzed. Has anyone had this happen to their cat? The vet said there is no reason for him to be doing it, yet he has yet to try to put weight on it. He is going back in tomorrow to get it wrapped to stimulate nerve growth, and hopefully that helps.

I can't find anyone who has gone through a similar situation with their cat. If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it, I am so worried about him. I don't want to have to amputate the leg!

Thanks in Advance

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.  I would suggest you call the vet's office and explain your concerns and see what they suggest.

The vet has never had this happen to him before. I was just wondering if anyone had this happen. He is going back tomorrow, to see if they can stimulate the nerves in his foot

Even if this doesn't work and he has to have his leg amputated, he'll be fine.  Cats are very resilient and I know many tripod kitties who are more athletic than 4 legged kitties.
