Little Girl is recovering from a fungal infection in her intestines.  At her worst, she went from 9 lbs to 4 lbs, was vomiting multiple times a day, violent diarrhea, and was in starvation mode.  She had a voracious appetite and would eat anything and everything that was given to her.  Now that the fungal infection has been dealt with, she is back up to around 9.5 lbs.  Her ideal weight is probably around 9 lbs, so I've been on a mission to really watch how much food she is eating.  She eats little amounts throughout the day and is able to free feed.  At the moment she is getting 1/2 a cup of Royal Canin Special 33 for Sensitive Stomachs.  This seems to be what is the tastiest for her and the easiest to digest.  She also gets a tbsp of wet food every so often, grain free Nature's Variety, but wet food seems to be more of a novelty to her these days.  She licks the juices, eats some of the pate, and then leaves the rest.

I guess my question is...does this sound like enough for a 9 lb cat?  We seem to be right on the money on the amount that she will eat in a day.  1/2 cup to 3/4 cup, although at 3/4 cup she seems to be almost uncomfortably full.  She still has an issue with the vomiting, but it has gone to between once every week to once every month.  We are treating her with Cerenia and Pepcid for her nausea.

I do have a new question about feeding.  Is it normal that she eat a lot one day and not eat so much the next?  She's maintaining weight.  She's not throwing up.  She's drinking.  She's playing.  She's alert and bright.  She just doesn't eat so much some days.

She's doing pretty good. She is maintaining her weight, but we are still dealing with some throw up issues. I'm thinking its allergies so I'm not too concerned about it right now. She isn't throwing up food, its always clear liquids.

I am glad she is doing better .. Maybe the clear vomit is from having an empty tummy .  My Shih Tzu will sometimes do this first thing in the morning .. Vet said hers was due that ..

My cats eat Royal Canin Special 33 as well . My female has a sensitive tummy and hairball issues . She used to vomit a LOT ..Not at all now with the RC ..

I had thought about the empty stomach thing too but she has food in her bowl at that time. Maybe she's just not eating at that time of night. She is a lot better than she use to be.
