I'm to this site and still dealing with the death of my 13 year old calico cat whom I called Callie girl!! I rescued her when she was one year. Of course planned for her to be an indoor cat. But everytime the door opened she hauled butt and only about five feet and laid down after doing that about 30 times. I left her out there for awhile and she never left and never wanted to come in. I considered her life pretty long for an outdoor cat and I knew she was getting older. No more climbing trees or roofs and her joints were hurting. I've had two cats pass before and both natural causes and sat through it with both of them. One day I was at work and my Mom was at home with my daughter sick. She calls me to tell me, while she was outside smoking she watched the neighbors dogs get out. They came cross the street and start smelling around the tree and from where she is she doesn't realize Callie is laying in front of the tree. By the time she hears the first growl and gets up, one them has Callie in her mouth and the other is coming towards my Mom growling. So my Mom had to go get a BB gun to scare them off. By the time I made it home Callie was gone. I see her in the corner of my eye all the time and miss sitting on the porch drinking hot tea and petting her. As for my neighbor his dogs are gone(he moved them to the country). I'm having a hard time forgiving only because his dogs got out all the time and he never took precautions to keep them for doing it again. I loved her soo much and its been hard for my daughter as well because she was home and heard some of it going on. So now she fears dogs a little. As well as Callie was around before she was and she randomly just come running out of her room crying because she misses her. Thank you soo much for letting me vent and sorry it was so long.

I'm very sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to have happen. :( Dealing with such a tremendous loss does get easier with time, as the good memories eventually outweigh the sad ones, but right now the grief is very fresh and your emotions raw. for you and your daughter.

RIP, Callie. :rbheart:

Thank you sooo much.. Some days are better than others. So I try and remember all of good memories. But at times I find myself breaking down because I wasn't there to save her. But in time I will find my own way of dealing with this. So glad I found this site!! Just to find people that understand what Im going through means alot. Thank you so much JCat.

I'm so very ,very sorry for your heartache, I know these terrible things happen sometimes and the why is not for us to understand. Just remember it was a horrible accident, you would never do anything to hurt your Callie girl and there was nothing you could have foreseen to prevent it. I carry guilt too for my little one's death, I suppose we will forever, but there is nothing we can do to change the past so we must learn to live with it. Sometimes it feels like it will never end, all the what if's and why didn't I do this or that, only time will help to quiet your troubled soul and help to mend your broken heart. My heart cries for what you are going through, I'll keep you in my thoughts and payers. Please let us comfort you if we can, we all love cats and know the heartache of losing one. Bless you for loving so much, take care.............RIP beautiful Callie girl!

Thank you soooo much Di and Bob. Your kind words mean alot. Your right and time will help. I try and remember she is no longer in pain and sitting high in tree somewhere watching over us. It's so wonderful to find a site full of people that understand my grief. And that also love there cats just as much. :) I guess what I mean is not everyone gets how emotional I've get over this. When I found out at work that day I broke down and fell to my knees crying. When I told my boss I had to leave and what happen she responded oh my you scared me I thought something happen to your daughter or family member. My respond something did happen to my family member. And so I understand not everyone has had a bond with an animal or understands how heartbreaking the loss is. Which is completely fine but makes me sooo greatful to find a group that does get it. Thank you for your prayers and words. Thank you from Callie girl as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I went through a similar situation with my childhood cat and can identify with you and your family.  Bless you all.  You will be in my prayers.
