Evo going out of production?

I called Pet Valu for a price check on Evo and I was told the brand is going out of production.  I asked follow-up questions to be sure and the PV employee assured me this is true.  Apparently the news was emailed to stores.  PV is having a 40% sale on all Evo items to clear their stock.  They do not expect any additional deliveries.  Unfortunately for me, all the cat food was sold out.  I've spent 5 years trying to get my cats to embrace Evo and finally this summer, they have and production is stopping!  I ordered a case from Chewy but they aren't having an Evo sale.

On Evo's website, it says some of their foods have a "bold new look".  In the fine print, it lists which foods are included, and some of them are the cat formulas. I can't imagine they would go to the trouble of new packaging if they were going to stop making it.  Is it possible that Pet Valu is just trying to get rid of their stock of the old design bags?  I know a lot of stores put their food on clearance when that happens. I got a huge bag of food for $6 once just because it was the old design, and the new design bags were $27!

I wouldn't be surprised if the PV employee misinterpreted a revamp of the brand as "going out of business" (her words).  It did sound a bit strange and that's why I posted here as soon as I hung up the phone.  I was sceptical as I know Evo is owned by a large corporation so they're hardly going to go out of business.

And you're right about these types of  sales.  Like I mentioned, unfortunately all the cat food was gone.

I bought 24 cans of innova cat & kitten at pet supply plus on sale 80 cents off each can. They said they would not carry it anymore.Proctor Gamble just sold it to Mars along with Iams and Eukanuba. Sold for 2.9 billion.[emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128576[/emoji][emoji]128576[/emoji][emoji]128576[/emoji][emoji]128176[/emoji][emoji]128176[/emoji][emoji]128180[/emoji][emoji]128180[/emoji][emoji]128180[/emoji][emoji]128180[/emoji]

I travel to a number of different stores to get the brands and flavours that my cats eat. I've been seeing less and less of Evo on the shelves. One PV had 4 tins. I was told that there was not enough call for it.

They are clearing the shelves of evo and innova because of company sale I think. Their website mentions new packaging coming soon. Chewy. Com and Amazon have it.

Oh dear. This would be a problem. I can't get Caesar to eat anything except EVO 95% Chicken & Turkey canned food, and occasionally the 95% Beef.

I'm going to see what I can dig up on this.

They'd better not stop production or change the formula too much. Evo 95% chicken/turkey is the only canned food Fluffy will eat, and she has chronic cystitis so shouldn't have dry food :/. I'm hoping they're just changing the packaging or Pet Valu is just discontinuing it in their store.

(they don't say anything on their website)

P&G bought Natura a few years ago. . .did they sell it again?
@Willowy, it happened this past April. P&G passed it off to Mars.

I didn't know about it either. I have been pretty out-of-touch with what's going on in the world. But, yes, I am in the same situation. I used to have a good rotation of foods going for Caesar, which included the EVO along with Fancy Feast, Sheba, Friskies, Purina One pates, etc. He started refusing everything but the EVO.

Mars is much better at blowing out their lines than Proctor and Gamble, so hopefully there will be fewer awful recalls. Had a friend feeding Innova and as soon as Proctor and Gamble bought it, her dogs got sick, and shortly thereafter, it was recalled, and then again...Hopefully the sale of the pet food lines to Mars will end the recalls. If anything says Proctor and Gamble on the label, I put it down and find something else. They have all the ethics of a rock.

P&G is totally out of pet food market now. Mars makes low end food now, I hope they don't screw up evo/innova. Innova is the only cat food my cat keeps down. I just bought 48 cans from chewy.com. Down to large cans only. Mars makes Whiskas, Royal Canin, Sheba, Temptations, Nutro.

:slant: I can only hope the formulas stay OK. Wellness is pretty much off the list since they changed it, and it's hard enough getting food the cats will reliably eat...

Its funny with Wellness - all they changed was the cooking process and so many cats turned up their noses! It amazes me how picky they can be!

My cats love Wellness.  About 6 month ago, they went off Wellness for a couple of weeks.  It was an incredibly stressful period, so I put it down to the environment.  Now I wonder if they were adjusting to the new Wellness formula.  When did Wellness change?

In any case, after a couple of weeks, they went back to loving Wellness.

I talked to the local pet store owner and she doesn't expect any formula changes to Evo (and the other Natura brands).  She said Mars is looking for a high grade line so it wouldn't make any sense for them to mess with the acquisitions....

I find that very insulting to rocks.

Nah, any time these conglomerates take over the focus strictly becomes profit. I haven't touched Evo since the first sale. They will start messing with it for sure.... Looking for cheaper source ingredients. Wouldn't surprise me if they start sourcing from china.
