We've been expecting piglets for a few month now and my girl Penelope finally had them last night. Here's a few photos!

There are four in total, but this little girl came out with an unusual face... not sure what caused it.

She is so silly looking, but appears to be healthy and is very active. Waiting to determine if her deformity will affect her eating. If so, we may have to euthanize her.

Cut piggies :) Very surprised at her small litter! Has she had babies before? Good luck with you little special piglet!

Yes she has. She is almost 4 years old and this will be her third litter. We raise them for meat, we will probably retire her from mating after this litter. Her last litter only had two in it, her first if I remember correctly had eight.

Aaah, don't post adorable baby pictures and then say they're for meat!
LOL sorry. :lol3:

I'd rather raise them myself and know how they are treated and what they are fed, rather than buy pork that's been abused and mistreated prior to being slaughtered.

Awww they are SO adorable...thanks for posting.  I can't really blame the little girl in Charlotte's Web for wanting to save Wilbur especially after seeing pics like these!   But that's cool you raise them yourself.  I don't think it's wrong to eat meat but yeah the animal factory abuse stuff does bother me.

I agree with you. I don't eat meat myself, never have done, but I think if you are going to eat it you should know where it came from and how it was raised and make sure that the animal didn't suffer unnecessarily on it's way to your plate. So kudos to you for raising your own pigs.

I'm sorry to hear that the cute little snub nosed piglet didn't make it.

Oh no worries. I'll probably post more photos as they get bigger. Right now they're like little fat things with tiny legs lol. Only 3 of them so plenty of momma's milk to go around! Plus they're already eating the grain we feed momma.

Adorable!  So sorry the little one didn't make it. So unfair...I can't raise animals for that reason. I get attached right from the beginning.

I thought that was the point lol.

But they are so cute.. It is awesome that you raise your own meat. I'd have a tough time doing it because I have a hard time seeing animals that I'm responsible for, not being pets. And I'm sure your piggies live quite high the hog for their lives :)

Of course it's the point, lol! They won't become food for well over a year. And I don't take part in the butchering of the animals. I just can't do it. I feed them and take care of them every day, there's no way I could participate in killing them.

So cute! I love piglets -- I even love the word piglets!  Thanks for posting - they're adorable.
