So my cat has always had this peculiar shadow in her eye:
And I always thought it was just a strange colour pattern. Vets never said anything about it. But today I accidentally snapped a close-up with the flash on, and was surprised to see this:
That yellow glow is a reflection off the retina, sooo apparently my kitty has a hole in her iris. It's not one of those really sharp black colobomas I always see in photos, but...if it's a hole in the iris, then its a coloboma, right? Or might it be something else? I assume she was born with it, as we got her when she was 3 months old and the shadow was there then.
I'm not concerned about it, and it hasn't changed at all throughout her life(she's 16...yeah, I normally don't take photos with flash), although I think it does affect her vision. She has terrible paw-eye coordination(takes several tries to grab a treat that is a few inches away) as well as depth perception(tries to "pounce" on birds that are several meters away). But anyway, I thought it was interesting.
