Hello all,
I'm looking for some advice. I recently took in a stray and had him checked out by a vet. They did the SNAP combo FIV/FLV test on his blood after it had sat in a fridge over night. The test came up "positive" but they later called me and said that they felt the test may have been invalidated (I guess the bottom dot lit up?). They had me come back in and retested him with fresh blood that came back negative after they had me wait to make sure enough time had passed. He's not showing any outward signs of illness, but even with the second test being negative, I'm worried that maybe I shouldn't trust it. I have another cat at home and I don't want her to get sick (we've been keeping the stray on our enclosed porch for the time being). Would you all let them mingle or do you think I ought to bring him somewhere else? I've already spent most of my savings to take him in and I don't know that I can afford any more tests.
