So I'm either being super paranoid or there's something wrong with my cat Little Girl again. We just lost her companion of 7 years a few weeks ago to an unknown liver ailment. She also just finished up treatment for histoplasmosis last week.

After all of this, she is still throwing up clear fluids on occasion. She use to do this a couple of times a day. Then it went away. Now it's back and she's done it once a week. It's been in the mornings, between 5 and 7am. She always gives me warning by giving out her signature meow and then she throws up. I have been giving her Cerenia when nauseated for the pas seven months. She is a 9 lb cat and is eating between 1/2 to 3/4 a cup of dry kibble per day with a few tsps of wet mixed in. She drinks from a free flowing sink all day. She has normal poops and normal pee. She's playful, bright, alert, and just in general her normal self. Her color is great. I live in an area where the allergy count is high and she does suffer from weepy eyes from time to time. Could her vomiting be caused by a high pollen count? Because I've had such a long fight with her illness and because we just lost my other ca to an unknown illness, I'm really concerned that her vomiting has returned.

When my cat started throwing up clear liquid, it was because of the build up of stomach acid from the beginning stages of renal failure.  It does not sound like your cat is having other health issues though.  With my cat, in addition to the vomiting, he was drinking a lot more water and urinating more often.  I am not sure what else can cause the vomiting but it does sound like something you should have checked.

I had issues with Ruby, my adopted 3-ish year old, vomiting clear liquid right from when I brought her home.  It was always between meals - either late in afternoon or early morning.  I had her about 2 months when I woke up to at least 3 clear puddles, then she threw up her breakfast.

I took her to the vet that morning and he couldn't find anything wrong with her and said she might have Irritable Bowel and gave me a Pepcid-like pill to give her for a few days.    He also suggested taking her off the dry food completely and changing her wet to Royal Canin Hypo-allergenic.    After that food change the clear vomiting stopped completely.

Because I was so worried about her vomiting, whenever I see someone else with the same problem, I like to share Ruby's story in case it might help. Good luck with LIttle Girl.

Little Girl got very sick with vomiting when she had histo. She lost nearly half her body weight while we were fighting it. I took her off the sensitive stomach royal canin when I switched to a mature adults food for her and her brother. Now that he is gone I'm pondering going back to the sensitive stomach formula.

Her last blood work showed that she was back to normal. Her urine test was negative for histo. Right after I wrote that last post I found a lump of partially digested kibble, so I went ahead and put in a call to her vet.

Even though I've had little girl for almost 7 years, her stomach remains a mystery to me.

One thing I forgot to mention about Ruby was that the first 2 months I had her she always had loose stools.   The SPCA had been feeding the cats a mix of IAMS dry and canned, so I continued when I adopted her.   The loose stools also cleared up immediately after changing her food.

Hopefully LIttle Girl just needs to switch back to the sensitive food formula.

The vet called and said that as long as she is holding her weight, she should be fine.  She prescribed Pepsid before bedtime and to watch what she eats.  We are going to switch back to sensitive stomach food and see if we can't nip this vomiting in the bud!
