I cant get a picture of the eye itself as she blinks every time the flash goes off.

Okay so I noticed the outter ring around the iris was slightly thicker in one spot about a month or so ago. I didnt think much of it until I saw it in the sun and it was pink underneath. So I took her to the vet. She couldnt tell me what it was so she referred me to a specialist. So a week between the vet and the specialist and I noticed the green of her iris around that bubble not only changed from green to pink to darker pink and gotten bigger! In just a week! She didnt seem to care. Nothing was different about her behaviour, walking, balance, jumping, eating and still chases her best friend around the house.
Anyway the specialist told me that it was a tumour but it was very odd because of her age (15months) and that she required an eye removal for her best chance of survival.
Anyway, I'm heartbroken. I need some reassurance. Please. Ive never had a cat before and I love her like a baby. Ive raised her from a bottle baby with pneumonia. So have you had a cat that had a tumour of the eye and just some info about helping her heal afterwards. I want this to go as nicely and smoothly as pausible.

Thank you. Big headbumps from kali.

Your cat is absolutely gorgeous. What a cute striking little cat you have there. She is adorable.

I would suggest you go online to a veterinary site called DVM 360 and search under ocular lymphoma. Is that what the vet said he/she thought it was? You said you have a specialist. Is this a board ceritified veterinary

 optholmatist?

Eyes really are not my "thing" and doing a quick (2 hour) check on the subject I didn't find out to much.

Based on my personal knowledge that I can remember right now, there was a cat that I knew that was FIV pos. Had only one eye, and we were treating him for lymphoma at the specialty hospital where I worked. He was getting chemo treatments. He had a good quality of life and I think the eye cancer had been years and years before. He had systemic lymphoma when we were treating him. His name was Rocket. He lived for years and then before he started to suffer his family made the choice to let him go. But he was an older cat. I believe he was over 15, I think. He was a tough cat and was hunting one eyed and all right up until the end. Don't ask me why he went outside. His family thought it was important to him and maybe it was. But anyway, as far as I know after the enucleation he was ok.

So, before the surgery, which I would do ASAP, I would make sure they do chest radiographs, a full blood panel, and if able an ultrasound to look for any sort of infiltrates in the lymph nodes. I would also have them test for feline leukemia even if she has been tested before.

Remember to ask your vet what would be required for after care and be sure that they address pain.

If I can find out anything else I will let you know. Otherwise maybe someone else will have some personal experience.

Again, your cat is adorable. Such a sweet little face.

Thank you. Shes my angel. ♡ so strong. Anyway, yes he was a certified optholmatist. And yes were getting pathology tests done on it first to see if it is cancer or of it was just a tumour. Then if the cells look bad we'll continue with tests to follow up. I will request a test for leukemia and a general blood test just in case. As shes a street cat and I dont know what health issues her parents have, I really dont know what she could develop.

Im glad he lived a long healthy life. I couldnt imagine my life without her. She brightens my day everyday and it just breaks my heart that this has to happen but shes got the first available appointment for this upcoming thursday.

Thank you for your advice! Purrs from Kali

Also shes an indoor cat who goes outside when its warm just to sunbathe but shes supervised as well. Im was concerned about her playing and hunying abilities. She loves to play so it would be very sad if she couldnt but I will encourage her. She has a big sister (shih tzu) who's very loving and protective.

Shes so beautiful. Ive never had a cat before, never really thought about it but she came into my life as a gift and she has adopted us more than we adopted her.
