I learned the hard way that getting my two female cats spayed at the age of 9 increased the risk of mammary cancer. That's what happened to my two. If only I had known that, I would have gotten it done much sooner!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

There are a lot of health risks that come with not getting female cats spayed. Unwanted kittens are just part of the problem.

We live and learn, huh?

When I got my youngest cat from the streets, I took her to get spayed about 6 months later because she would yowl and present almost all the time.  When I went to pick her up from the vet, she said that I was lucky because as they started the procedure they noticed that she had extremely large cysts on her ovaries.  She is a petite cat, around 7 lbs, and the cysts were the the size of an adult human's thumb.  She was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Spaying and neutering is incredibly important!  I'm sorry for the troubles that you've been having with your cats.
