Ringworm craziness!

I just adopted a 2 month old kitten on Sunday and when I took her to the vet she told me that my kitty has ringworm (she used the black light test). I have two other cats, one is a little over and year and the other is just about a year old. My new kitten was only left to wonder around the apartment for about two days and my other cats didn't have much contact with her. I have put her in an easy to clean room separate from my other cats. I have started her on the oral medication, the ointment, and will be giving her the lime sulfur dips. I went through the entire apartment and cleaned with the bleach mixture (1 part bleach 10 parts water) from head to toe.

My question is, should I be keeping her quarantined if there is a chance my other cats have it too? They will be taking the oral medication just in case. The shelter, my vet, and many things I've read online say to keep the infected cat in a separate room until the culture is negative. I just feel so bad keeping her a room when I know she would rather be out with everyone playing. I have toys in there for her (ones that can be cleaned easily) and I will be going in and visiting with her regularly.

If there is any advice at all that anyone can give me I would love to hear it! I have never had an issue like this before and it is pretty confusing. Some sources are very conservative with the issue and some are very liberal. I'm not sure if Im being overly cautious or not cautious enough.

Please help!

Thank you!

I actually got a shampoo, Malaseb, not the lime sulfur dip. Is this as effective?

Hi -

I see you haven't had any response. How are  things going?  I quarantined the cat I had with ringworm.  He was quarantined for 11 weeks and I felt horrible every single day.  I work 12 hours a day so I spent just over an hour with him every day.  The whole thing was terrible.  I tortured myself with guilt.  My vet did not suggest dips or shampoos to me, but as I have a dog who goes to daycare that I was terrified would catch it, I shampooed her in malaseb a few times a week for a few weeks.  After the cat had 3 ringworm cultures I had to return him to the rescue where I got him because I was overwhelmed.  He had been wandering my house for 3 weeks before he got diagnosed and I did the insane cleaning thing too. I am happy to say that neither I, my dog or my 11 year old long haired cat who has skin allergies got ringworm.  It was so glad when it was all over.  The ringworm cat was quickly adopted by another family and is doing well and is happy, so I guess it's as good as it gets.

How are things with you?
