A stray mum cat brought her 3 kittens to my home almost two years ago. The kittens are a siamese, a calico and a ginger.

The siamese is the smallest amongst the 3 kitties. I noticed that it would always be the first to finish suckling, way before its siblings are done. All the 3 kittens are equally active and playful.

All the kitties and mum were eventually neutered and given away, except the siamese who stayed with me. She has always been thin and eats very little or not at all. I have an older cat- 18 years old and I feed both my cats the same foods- kibbles in the morning (Evo, Science Plan or similar brands) and indian mackeral, sardines, small promfets or chicken fresh cooked in the microwave for dinner in the evenings, alternating with canned food (Fancy Feast or Fussie Cat). Once in a while, they get ground beef.

My concern is, the kitten eats very, very little- about 5-6 kibbles and a nibble at any of the meats. Some days, it would come and sniff at the food and not eat. It however, likes 'soup'- I microwave the fish with some water and it would drink most of the 'soup'. I have brought the kitten to our regular vet- initially, she was dewormed- her appetite returned for a short while. When she stopped eating again, I brought her to the vet again and was given a blood test including FIV and she was had a clear bill of health. At that time, she was very active so the vet said not to worry as long as she is active.

The kitten is now 1.5 years old and the vet says she is at her maximum size and weight, which is half of a normal cat. She is so skinny it pains me to see her pelvic bones. I took her to the animal hospital for a second opinion and a more comprehensive blood test which came out normal. The vet said some cats have just very high metabolism (I did tell her the reason I brought Kitty was she doesn't eat very much).

As she is reaching adulthood, she is less playful and active and more loving. She is independent and quite vocal as all siamese are. She goes out in the evenings and hunt, bringing back lizards, bugs and roaches, sometimes a frog or two. A few weeks ago, she was in a fight with the neighborhood stray and was bitten on the leg. I brought her to the vet who cleaned up her wound and gave her antibiotics. She recovered well. However, reading about cats who do not eat, I know they will eventually have liver failure- I am just very concerned and want to know if there's anything I can do to improve her desire to eat. The cat fight reminds me how fragile she can be, if she is badly attacked, she might not survive at all.

Sorry this post is so long- I could use some feedback, thoughts and advice. Thanks.

What is her body condition score? Compare her to this chart: http://www.purina.co.uk/content/you...'s-weight/assessing-your-cat's-body-condition

If she had a very high metabolism as your vet says, she would be eating a LOT and still skinny. I don't think that's the case. Have you tried taking her to a different vet to see if they can think of anything your regular vet might have missed?

Does she eat what she hunts? Maybe she just isn't very hungry for cat food?

Also, since you say she ate more after being dewormed, I wonder if she needs to be dewormed again. Kittens often need more than one deworming, especially if they or mom were strays. Cats that hunt can also get worms from their prey.

I have taken her to 2 vets- our regular vet at a clinic and the pet hospital for a second opinion where the comprehensive blood test was done.

It has been 4 months since her last dose of deworm, I can give her another dose.

It is promfet night and she has not even touched the soup. I looked at the body condition score and she is severely underweight.
