Hello, I'm new here [emoji]9786[/emoji]Just a quick question. ..

I have 2 cats that are 1 years old. Unfortunately they got fleas so I treated them with advocate from the vet. As his doesn't cover tapeworms I got some drontal as advised by the vet. I tried and tried but only managed to get about half a tablet in each of the cats. They are 3 kg so not sure this will be enough. Tried to hid the other half in some chicken but no luck. I've not seen any evidence of tapeworms but as they had fleas I'm guessing they go hand in hand. Not sure whether to just leave them for a couple of weeks and try again although the whole tablet thing was quite distressing for all involved or have another go asap?

I would suggest just leaving them for the time being.  If and when you see things that look like little grains of rice protruding from their butts and wiggling on occasion, then you will kmow you have tapes and can worm for them.  Unlike the other worms, the tapeworms do little damage and They tend to gross out humans but not cats.  The Advocate also kills other types of worms, so to avoid overmedicatingl, it would be best to try just DRoNCIt (praziquantel) next time without any other wormer as it is specific for tapes and only tapes.
