I adopted 2 kittens from a petsmart charity. I was told right away 1 had an ear infection and the option to take a different kitten. She was fostered with the original kitten I fell in love with so they were both coming home. So Nala has had ear infections for a month (finally given clean bill of health but wants an additional follow up in 1 week to ensure infection is gone). I have not been given a bill as the charity covered this. Luna however is my "shitty kitty" as my boyfriend is now calling her. 2 weeks ago I picked her up for some lovin and liquid poop just poured from her bum. She also pooped in the laundry room and left trails of poop drops all over the house. The vet put her on royal canin gastrointestinal high energy canned food 1/4 per kitten 2 times a day. Her eye watering gag reflex kicking in farts seemed to go away and her poop started to firm up. Both kittens cried constantly it wasn't enough food for them so the vet said I could also put out same food in dry 1 cup per day. Luna is back to being a gasy monster clearing the room. It's been about 3 days since introducing the gastro dry food. Vet said it could just take a few days for her body to get used to it but I think she's getting stinkier. I should mention the first 2 weeks they were home she farted a little but I chaulked it up to the stress of a new home as it did go away. They were eating Purina Pro kitten as that was what they were eating before I got them so no change in food. Luna has had blood work done and stool tested and everything is normal. She had a slightly elevated temp but kittens can run a lil warmer and the stress of the drive could also raise her temp so vet was not concerned. I need help with this. Can't be havin a cat more rotten than the boyfriend and don't want to keep switching foods incase it upsets Nala's belly. ANY suggestions appreciated. I'm just lost.

I don't know If this will help or not but when my kitten had really bad gas, the kind that just seems to seep out of her pores and radiate thru her fur, I tried all sorts of foods to help but the only thing that helped was taking her off of canned altogether and putting her on an all grain-free diet. Solved the problem right away

I dealt with a similar situation when mine were little. You may want to have the stool tested again-- there are certain parasites that if they don't happen to be at the right point in their life cycle, they don't show up in a fecal. Mine had giardia- first fecal showed nothing, second fecal it showed up, and we got them on medication.

Her stool seems to be normal. She doesn't bury it. Nala does it for her so I know which is which. It's just the farting at this point. Sometimes I think she may be doing it out of spite. If we (boyfriend and i) are laying watching TV and she's laying with us she doesn't seem to smell. But if it's been a few hours of no lovin on her terms she stinks. Odd I know but is it possible?

UPDATE: almost 4 weeks later not much has changed. My vet actually had to go on emergency leave so I had to have Luna checked out by another vet. Another stool sample and everything is still normal. She is way better just eating the royal canin gastrointestinal wet food. The dry food is a huge no no. So I've started her on a food that's grain free and poultry free nixing out 2 main ingredients of the other 2 foods she was on (Purina pro plan and the RC gastro). I've also added in DE to her RC gastro wet food. 5 days in she's gassier than before but I expect something with a new food but thus far no runs. My fingers are crossed it's just a food allergy. Oh she's also on an antibiotic for runs starts with an m. I really don't see a difference with it as I had the same results before just nixing out the dry food. She seems to play a little more now that she's got dry food down again. I still don't think she's a typical kitten but we're getting there! *i hope*
