I swear I have the laziest cats ever. In the morning they are half awake, Saki is usually licking us and waking us up by purring and laying over our chests and Zoey is waiting patiently for me to get up so she can come with me into the bathroom when I have my shower.

They eat, play for maybe an hour or so.. then go back to sleep.

Sleep most of the morning and when I come home for lunch they get up, greet me, have a snack, play for maybe another hour or so, then back to sleep.

When I get home they greet me, eat, use the bathroom
play for a bit, then back to sleep.

Then of course, 11pm - midnight rolls around and they're wide awake FULL of energy bouncing off the walls.

So all in all, in 24 hours I'd say my cats are sleeping about 16-18 of those hours
LAZY!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read before that is normal sleep time for cats. My cats sleep like that too. I'll see if I can find the website where I read that!

Hey Sicy i really think that is normal for a cat, blackie and stripey are the same way, i am at work all day, but my husband has his business at the house so he is in and out all day and he says the boys sleep most of the day, then when i get home they are awake for about 2 hrs. and then they sleep again then get up for about 1 hr. and then when we go to bed they go back to sleep with us for a short nap, the they prowl all night... so i would guess they sleep just as much...

Sicy - sounds like my cats subscribe to the same newsletter as yours!

They sleep half of the day away and then are in full play/attack mode when Jake and I are trying to sleep.

Typical!

Here's some information on cats sleep habits. I got it at: Pet Place-Sleep behavior

Sleep Behavior of Cats

If you are so inclined, you can let your cat sleep in his favorite place – your bed. Photo by Doug Nomura
Thereâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s no doubt about it: cats sure know how to sleep. Although the amount of time spent napping varies from cat to cat, and depends on the catâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s age and personality, felines spend an average of 13 to 16 hours each day curled up in slumber. Only the opossum and the bat sleep more – napping away almost 20 hours a day.

Nobody is sure why cats sleep so much. Cats evolved from a long line of hunters and predators – and their sleep patterns reflect that. For one thing, they are crepuscular (most active at dawn and dusk), since most of their prey is active at these times. This gives them plenty of time to sleep during the middle of the day.

The catâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s diet may play an important role in its sleep patterns. Large grazing herbivores must graze for hours to supply their bodies with enough food. But the protein-rich diet of the cat does not require such an investment of time, and allows him plenty of time for napping.

Of course, todayâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s modern indoor cat sometimes sleeps out of boredom. You can help your kitty by providing plenty of stimulation during the day – this can be in the form of toys, a companion, or by spending quality playtime with you. If he has plenty to do during the day, he may prefer to stay awake then, and sleep more during the night when you do.

LMAO, Sicy!! That was put so hilariously. Most things I've read also say this is normal.

Mozart and Kayla certainly fits the sleeping mold. Ginza, however, is very active and sleeps a lot less, so it's great that we have Pixie to play with him now.

Sounds like Ivo's schedule. I wake up in the morning, we have our snuggles, a short walk in the hall, breakfast and the morning gossip, and Ivo's settling in for a nap when I leave (about an hour later). She obviously gets around when I'm at work, because her food is gone and her toys are all around the apartment. When I come home, we have snuggles and gossip, I feed her and play with her and she goes back to bed. Around 9 or 10, we have one last walk in the hall and one last play session...until 3 in the morning. Ivo's always wide awake and playful from 3 to 5:30-my new upstairs neighbor must hate me because I'm either talking to Ivo and asking her to be quiet (because she loves yelling at her toys or yelling at me to get up), or I'm asking her to not get on the table or into the closet. So, overall Ivo sleeps about 16 or 18 hours a day, I'd guess.

W/ the best cats
My cats (outdoor) are very active from sunset until about 11pm and then around 4am until 7. The rest is nap time! I guess the warm weather here is a big factor affecting their waking hours.

Yes-snuggles and gossip. Ivo's very talkative first thing in the morning and when I first get home from work. She lets me know how her day was, what the pigeons were doing, how many people came in and out of the hallway...

When I'm up at 3, it's not by choice
I know I should ignore Ivo, but I can't shut my bedroom door (too many layers of paint) so I get up, give her a pat, go to the bathroom, get some water and try to fall back asleep til my normal wake-up time-7:30.

I'd say Snoopy (my 18 year old cat) sleeps about 20 or 21 hours a day. He's only awake when he eats, and when he wants attention. My cat Shane sleeps about the same as your girls, and Simba is active more than he's sleeping - I'd say Simba probably sleeps about 10-12 hours a day. The rest of the time, he's playing.
