Please help I went to check on May with the baby's. One of them is excluded semi cold and opening his mouth every few sec. I tried to bottle feed him and every time I do he won't swallow and let's out a huge meow help. He is with his mom now but will not nurse at all and is being left on one side of the blanket and mom and siblings on the other

Mother cats sense when something is odd with their kittens and abandoned them, that's the natural way for them so if she is rejecting him maybe he is sick or have some malformation internally or something that make him weaker than his brothers.

The only think you can do is to check with a vet, if the kitten has some problem the mother won't take care of him v_v

First of all, you must warm him up!   continuing...

He cant nurse or digest if not warm enough...

Massage him, held him at your chest, use a heating pad.   Not too much warmth, but clearly he needs more Active warming than he has now.

Second, you can perk in some energy in him, by smearing a Little glucose sugar on his gum.  If you dont have it, use honey or White caro syrup.   Even wetted common sugar may work, but it will be much slower.

   continue

When they are very weak, a dropper is much easier.  Or a syringe without needle.

You let them lay on the tummy, head up, put the dropper in the corner of the mouth, and squeeze gently, so you are sure its not spraying straight into the wrong throat

The same advice with formula feeding - when they are weak - use dropper or syringe, its easier

  continue

He is probably dehydrated by now, so give him some water too, after you had him warmed up and smeared this sugar-solution on his gum.

Re contacting your vet - some vets are good with weak kittens, but quite a few doesnt have much clue.

At best they will inject some fluids subcutant - which is good, as dehydration is a major danger.

But if your vet isnt knowleable working with rescuers, dont rely too much on the vet at this moment.

Better you do your outmost at home, and find some person used with rescue work. it may be a cat person, a dog person, a squirrel person.

Even a mom with many Children will do - they are used to find solutions in desperate circumstances...

continue

Its true cat moms tends to reject dying kittens, or kittens whom its something wrong with.

So possibly Everything is in wain if he has severe faults.

But not so seldom, what is a reject by the cat mom, may be saved by a vigorous human help, and that kitten may with any luck grown up into a healthy, nice home pet.

So pray, and fight on as much as you can and manage!   The Victory may be yours!

*vibes!"

Good luck!

Im sorry.  RIP  little one.

You did your best, you gave your love and he could receive love in his last hours of his short life.   Sometimes its all you can do.

And this is worth much.   After all, Mother Theresia earned her Sainthood   essentially by this.  Not even she did anything more.  Giving love and care in the last days and hours of the dying.

Warm hugs!

Jennefer, on behalf of all the team here, thank you so much for caring for this little one and we really do feel your loss.

Threads are locked after someone has suffered such a loss, as a sign of respect.

We invite you to place a tribute at http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge as an enduring testimony to this little boy's short life.

RIP little one
