After catching, vetting, and releasing Fluffy, I decided to try to trap the new, younger tabby who has been showing up.
I got a tabby...one who is about 8 to 10 weeks old!!!! We have not seen this kitten before.
The kitty is scared, but she let us touch her without hissing. She is now in the cage with all amenities. We will be working on her socialization. But I don't think she's feral.
We will check for "lost cat" posters and online. If she escaped and got lost, I have no problem giving the kitten back. But anyone who would let a kitten that young out, when there are raccoons, owls, and coyotes, doesn't deserve to get her back. So we aren't going to advertise a "found kitty".
Do you have any links to resources on taming/socializing scared kittens, I'd appreciate it. I will do more looking online tomorrow. Right now I'm kind of in shock :-)
