From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Cats are a huge responsibility. One we take seriously. Junior was born into a colony that I had been helping tnr (trap neuter release) for the past 4 years. Thankfully Junior was part of the last litter out of this colony. We caught him and his siblings at 5 weeks. Juniors brother and sister went up for adoption but Junior was medically needy. At the time he was diagnosed with a heart issue. Since his foster mom couldn't keep a medically needy cat and I couldn't take in any animals due to my husbands medical needs Kathy said she would take Junior. When Kathy took this special boy back I made the promise to help in every way possible.

under the impression that Junior had a heart issue he was treated with heart medications but it soon became evident that we had more going on.   An appointment was booked with a cardiologist who told us the diagnosis was wrong. We did an echocardiogram to be sure but just as he said, Juniors heart was fine. After a few more tests including an ultrasound we had a firm diagnosis . Portosystemic shunt. A rather large one. We booked an appointment at UC Davis. Thankfully the team was able to stabilize Junior and give us time to raise the funds needed for his ameroid ring surgery.

Junior is a special cat with a large personality. We all love him and are trying our best to help him.

Please visit his website or visit Junior Barkavious on facebook.

Thank you,

Valli
