I'm sorry Peaches I've made a real right royal mess for you
What I was trying to say is
He's certainly not a Jewish cat.
He loves his port but isn't mad about his chicken. Oh dear oh dear ;-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-)

Well he doesn't follow kosher laws, that's for sure!  I tease my Jewish friends every time they eat cheeseburgers, "You can't eat that!"  They look at me confused, "Why?"

Freckles did not react well at all to the doxycycline, so the vet called in a prescription for azithromycin.  I hope he can keep this down and it eliminates the bartonella.  Otherwise he's doing well.  He's eating better these days, and his eye drops seem to help with the inflammation of the uvea.

Her's a picture of a chunk of pork trim.  It's fatty, but I don't think it is as fatty as people claimed.  I actually wish it had more fat.

Oh, you're right. I was definitely expecting more fat than that.

So sorry that Freckles didn't do well with the doxy, but glad to hear he's eating better.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Playing catch up here - and that was an emotional roller coaster ride! FIP? Heart sink... taken off the table... :woohoo:

:lol3:

I agree - the bartonella is treatable!!! And if he's not anemic from it? Asymptomatic is GOOD. It's either early, or his immune system is working pretty well!

Sorry the Doxy wasn't an option. FYI, you can give him S. boulardii (a yeast-based probiotic) to stop diarrhea while on antibiotics. If you want to know more, just PM me as tags don't work - I don't get the notification. :(

:vibes: :vibes: :vibes: for Freckles!

I'll definitely consider the S. boulardii if diarrhea becomes a problem.  Hopefully the azithromycin will be in here soon.  The pharmacy was really quick last time.  And yeah, emotional roller coaster is right.  I got REAL light-headed and nauseas when he said FIP.  I seriously had to stop him at one point and ask him to "repeat everything you just said after the first time you said 'FIP', I kind of went into shock and didn't catch much after that."  I'm so thankful that his coronavirus titer wasn't remarkable.

Some only follow the laws when in front of the parents.  Otherwise they don't.

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: Yes, been there. Everything just starts buzzing. literally. It's like being light-headed and listening to Charlie Brown's teacher.

I hate that coronavirus titer test. Before I had a clue about anything, our vet scared us with that when Tuxedo first came up with severe anemia. Well - not our vet. Our vet was on vacation. The owner of the practice. He had us bring ALL of the cats in to put them in quarantine and made them stay in the hospital while testing them. How ridiculous is that? I didn't know to be furious or to say no, or .... :sigh: Spooky's titer came back massively high.

Well - she never developed FIP. So no, a high titer is not confirmatory.

He did mention that if the titer came back high, then more tests were needed to confirm FIP.  We just started with the tests we did to get started on finding some answers.  I ended up not separating the cats because frankly I really didn't see it doing any good at this point and I didn't want to stress out Freckles who really needs reduced stress right now.  Julie isn't helping with that.  That witch still takes cheap shots at him and hisses.  Thankfully they're sissy swats she's giving him.  The boys are still trying to involve him in play, but he doesn't want any part of it.  I'm sure most of it is he just doesn't understand that they're playing and not attacking him, and some of it may be muscle soreness from the bartonella.

Still waiting on the azithromycin.  Hopefully it will be in tomorrow.

Azithromycin came in today!  I gave him a dose and dinner, we'll see what happens.

What about his eyes?
The eye is the same.  When I put drops in it, it's not as dilated, but I'm not expecting to see any real improvements until the bartonella itself is eliminated.  Poor guy really is tired of being messed with, but it's for his own good.

His hips are finally beginning to fill out!

What's Bartonella? So it seems he's putting on a little weight. That's good

Bartonella is the bacterial infection the eye vet found (through blood work) and is a potential cause of his eye problem.  I'm hoping that if we get the bartonella dealt with, then the eye problem will at least not get any worse and may even resolve somewhat.  And yes putting on weight is a great thing!  He's getting stronger and harder to administer eye drops too.  I've read where bartonella causes myalgia and arthralgia, and I think In see signs of it.  I bet that's why he squeaks and runs from the other cats.  He's sore and doesn't want to play with the other cats, and sometimes just gets defensive when they try.  He usually initiates play by himself and looks startled when they want to join in.  There haven't been any knock-down drag-outs thankfully, but maybe as he feels better he can see the true nature of the other kitties and can blend in the rest of the way.  We'll get there.

I hope his eye business works out. It's good he initiates play.
I can just see me administering eye drops to Blighty. I think he would use his claws they something neither of mine do, nor do they bite.
But freckles seems to be improving from day to day.
