so i got talked into doing another foster to 2 tiny day old kittens...unfortunately one died 2 days later and now the remaining on has an issue...she is doing fine except when i woke up this morning she had hard poop blocking her anus and i gently ran warm water over it and manipulated it free but saw she was impacted and had to gently but firmly squeeze the remaining poop out but it was hard and her anus is now stretched open,...will it go back to normal once she is cleared of hard stools>? i have watered her formula down a bit and added a bit of veg oil to it (no mineral oil till i get home) to help loosen things up inside..i called the person I helped and told them she may need to see the vet if she doesnt get better today...but she is actually doing great except for that, eating very well sleeping normally...she likes to walk a lot   what can i do

Exactly what you did, adding a bit of oil (preferably mineral but okay) will help lube her hard poop, as well as diluting her formula a bit. This dilution means less nutrition of course so not more than a day of that.

Kittens transitioning from ,moms milk to kmr always get constipated.

If worse comes to worse I will tell you how to give an enema, but we are not there yet.

Hopefully the oil added into her formula will do the trick.

I am just concerned that I may have damaged something when I was lightly squeezing her peritoneal area to get the rest out but the whole area was in obvious distress as it was bulging out and I could see the hard stools and when I squeezed they popped out in little pieces and kept coming …I stopped after a bit bc she was looking so sore..i was so scared of infection bc she was left very open but my sons said she went back to normal as of right now
