Lilly gets 100g of wet food twice a day and a bowl of kibble to snack on lately shes prefering to turn her nose up at the wet. She used to love this stuff now she takes a few bites and then walks away and going for the dry instead.her weights still healthy and she is drinking eatting just not as much of the wet as I'd like her to be. Before you all chime in with how bad dry is versus wet please know im not interested she gets a mix of both because shes very fussy and gets bored of food textures easily and she happens to like her kibble though only ever snacked on it now she seems to be prefering this over her wet. Ive tried different brands toppers timed feedings nothing works eventually I end up with a disinterested kitty who will only snack on kibble. Any new ways I could entice her to the food. Please note I'm in the uk moneys a big issue and I cant really buy in bulk as shes so fussy. Its took her longer to go ofd this brand of wey but alas its happened

Maybe she's bored of that food now? If she's being fed the same wet food day in and day out, some cats can get bored of it and want something new. I know Kismet is a brat about wet food and likes to have her meals changed up too, rather than the same flavour twice in a day (heaven forbid). Maybe try offering other flavours or other brands of food and see if she takes to another one? Crumble up some kibble and use that as a topper? Sometimes I'll smush bits of kibble into wet food so she's got to bite into wet food and get a bit of both if she wants the kibble. Some people use bonito flakes, some people use parmesan cheese as toppers too...

It's like a kid French fries or broccoli! I stopped free feeding dry, they only get the little bit I give them after they eat wet food meals in am and pm. It was easy.

Well shes getting 4 different flavours our problem is once she gets sick f a brand thats it she wont eat it again for a long while and being pregnant and having a toddlet is making thw shopping around hard . As for not free feeding her kibble shes always been free fed this and will choose wet over the dry until shes bored of the brand shes on. Its nothing to do with the comparative values though thank you for your opinion. I'm not willing to stop free feeding as timed feeding made her less inclined to eat. Coupling that with how fussy she is about her food I am unwilling to change the routine. At least while shes being free fwd the so called french fries during her fussy phase shes still getting some food so less likely to develop fatty liver disease. Most of thw time kibble goes untouched bar sparing bites when shes notnin a fussy phase I need a way to stop her getting bored of the brands of wet so quickly and since she will only eat paye texture wet and theres only 3 places that stock this texture:rbheart: of food iny price range im running out of options she wont eat chunks or strips only pate shes such a diva

@StephieDoodle    I know how you feel  It is not easy ...  I have 2 extremely picky eaters .. I feed them 1 serving of kibble per day but they are super picky when it comes  wet/can food .. I  am having a hard time finding something they will eat more than one time

.. It is very frustrating ..

I have one brand called Fancy Feast that they will eat consistently day after day but it is on the lower end of the scale by quality .. I may have to go back to it .. My cats are opposite , they will not eat Pate in any brand or flavor , they do not like shreds or big chunks ..

Sometimes if I sprinkle a tasty treat on top of the wet they will eat it .
Does not always work though ..

I wish I could offer you more suggestions but I have not yet found any for my cats ..

This is my problem shes picky she will only eat the one texture other than the kibble 3 brands local to me that are In my price range dont upset her tummy like the bigger brands ie sheba toppers have not work with her. Shes a pain in the bum and obviously id prefer her not being so picky/sensitive tummy to richer foods than the stuff she will eat though goes off of and wont eat with the same gusto after she becomes none fussed by it by wont eat I mean a few bites then leaves it alone

I  know , it is very difficult when they are so picky .. My cats are eating kibble right  now .. There is one more brand of wet in my price range that I am going to try then it will be back to the brand they like I guess .

You'll probably have to resort to "retiring" one of the brands for a couple of weeks, then reintroducing it while taking another out of the mix temporarily. I did that for Jamie for over 13 years and it could get complicated because he wouldn't even eat the same flavor more than twice a week.

Wow I have never heard so many fussy cat stories is everyone leaving out dry all day is that why cats are so fussy on wet? You would be surprised what they eat when no dry is left out!

Is she just a snack feeder and only eats the food when it's fresh down?  I've had cats like this, and Mouse was like it when he was little and ate pate food.  I couldn't give it to him cold either, it had to be like it was a freshly opened  tray so I'd have to make sure it was warm first if it had been in the fridge.  Like one spoonful at a time in the bowl and then repeat several times a day.  Snack on wet food, snack on kibble and drink his water.  He ate a lot more wet that way than just putting half a tray down at a time.

If she'll eat a little of one pate for a day and then want a change you could try freezing tiny portions which a lot of people have talked about doing with cats when they are sick and off their food - anything to keep them interested.  It cuts down on the waste food from trays she won't finish within a day or two.

I think we have identified her problem her appetite is reduced so ive transitioned down to one tray a day and her kibble and shes starred back in on the wet and only eatting a bite or twonof kibble every so often. Now just tontackle her aversion to chunky textures that ate not crunchy kibble.thank ypu all for the in put and ideas. Though I find It funny how I expressed I didnt need comments on the kibble as I knew this was not the cause of her fussyness and yet I srtill had people trying to dissuade me from feeding it the way we do. Just to make clear my lilly is a healthy happy active cat cshe gets plenty water her coat is smooth and shinny her eyes bright and she is a healthy 3.5kg which for her size she is just about perfect!
