My boy just had PU surgery on Thursday, we brought him home Friday night. He was abnormally loving, he's a very independent anti social cat. He ate a LOT, went to the litter (#1 and #2). He is confined to the bedroom and we try to leave him be because he just gets too excited when we're in there, rolling and trotting around for pets. I do check on him every hour or so. Yesterday (Saturday) I noticed that some of his stitches were popped so I freaked out and called the vet. He said he was "overly concerned" about it. Today he seems to have popped more stitches. BTW yes, he has an e collar. I think he's rubbing them with his paw. Anyhow, is this normal? Is that why the vet isn't too concerned?

Please, anybody can you give me your experience with a situation like this? His follow up apt isn't until tomorrow but I think I may have to take him in today instead.

I have searched and searched online and can't find anything, anywhere, about a cat popping their stitches after PU surgery. My cat can't be the exception. This has to have happened to someone before

Its not normal. He should be seen. Also try spending more time watching him to figure out how he is doing it.could be with edge of collar. May need bigger collar. He should be checked.

Yes, we took him in. He's staying at least for tonight. I'm still waiting for a call to let me know what exactly they're going to do for him

Thank God his stitches didn't actually pop! They are suppose to look like they are coming apart as his anatomy stretches. He's back home and doing good
