I'm trying to determine if these two ingredients in a krill oil are really dangerous/toxic for cats.  I saw a previous thread about Nature Made Krill oil having these and that the poster wasn't going to use it because of that.  I've googled and searched and I can't find anything that tells me it's a problem.  I have some of the Schiff MegaRed Krill oil that I want to "try" on Sammy to see if he will eat the food with this on it because I'm having trouble getting him to eat the Nordic Fish oil that I got.  If he'll eat the krill oil, I will get a better quality krill oil for him, but I just want to make sure that the vanillin and/or sorbitol isn't something toxic for him.

Thanks for any input..

Personally, I'd love to know from Schiffs why they add either. I wouldn't give Ritz krill oil that contained sorbitol (a sugar) or vanillan (vanilla). From what I understand/read, cats don't have a sweet tooth; that is, they can't really metabolize sugar (which is a carbohydrate). Cats are drawn to ice cream and yogurt because they contain relatively high amounts of protein and fat content.
That said, the amounts may be insignificant.
Also, if Boo liked/hated that brand I wouldn't know if it was due to the presence of krill, sorbitol or vanillan.
I use this sporadically (my bad....) (500 mg). It comes in a soft gell, which is really hard to break open. Hare Today sells salmon oil in a pump form.
I am also thinking about giving Ritz one sardine a few times a week (packed in water, no salt added) in lieu of a pill.
