As I have mentioned, my cat was recently diagnosed with Asthma. I actually am starting to think that is wrong. I think he has some sort of COPD. Basically over time, his lungs fill with mucus. Then, he starts coughing to get out the mucus.  I just read about it and one thing it said was that the cat might throw up mucus. My cat did this. I just thought it was regular throw up.

In June I gave him a steroid dose which ended about the end of June. All of July he was great. However, he is starting to have coughing spells again. So it seems like the mucus builds and then he needs to get it out.  Not like he has random attacks based on the air.  He also has problems with humidity and that seems not to make the most sense for asthma -- dry cold air helps him.

I suppose the good news is that they say he can get better by losing weight. He is currently 20 lbs. I am working on that.

Have you talked to a vet about this? They would probably be in the best position to advise you.

Glad to hear an update about your kitty!

Yes I did. And per usual... she refused to comment at all unless I came in.  Sweet!  I had a full check up on April (blood tests were taken) May he was diagnosed by an emergency vet clinic with asthma (x rays were taken) and I just brought him in a few weeks ago for the after ER check up (which was pointless as she just read the records). She has all the information she needs to comment without a trip in.

But since the treatments seem to basically be the same... I am thinking I can just continue with the treatment.  COPD or a copd like issue would be a positive for me for a few reasons - first I can stop looking for what is trigging the asthma. Because there isn't anything.  And I can focus on the issue in different ways, focusing on my cat losing weight and keeping the air dry.

Thanks for your good wishes.

You may try just ringing up another vet. I know that changing vets is expensive and a hassle. But really, they should be able to answer any questions over the phone. I don't know why yours won't.

I don't know.. I find them all that way.  She can't seem to answer my questions in detail.
