Hello everyone,

I am sorry that I just joined and disappeared, but like most people i have to work. Unfortunately software development is 80% upkeep and fixing bugs so it keeps me busy at home as well... anyways..

I have a Chausie cat and if any of you have ever been around this breed, imagine a dog with the curiosity of a cat. Well my Chausie "India" has been getting up at night and tipping over the garbage can, so that when I wake up in the morning I have a garbage bag in the living room with its contents between the point of origin in the kitchen to the point of molestation"living room". Using my engineering thinking (rather than common sense) I duct taped the lid closed. Problem solved, but India still tries to push the lid open, getting her poor claws caught in the tape. is there another solution to this? I have also used the spray (all natural) to keep her out, but she does not mind it at all. I am a simple person, and I prefer to sit or lay in the floor to watch tv or other things. I despise chairs and end up pacing, so I really hate to lay where garbage has been. PLEASE!   help keeping the spread of harmful garbage bacteria from all over my house lol.

Put it in the pantry or in the cabinet under the sink (with a baby lock on the cabinet) or some other place she can't get it. It's really the only way when you have a curious active cat :D.

I suppose there may be some garbage cans that have child/pet proof lids but she would probably still TRY to open it and that could be disruptive, and so just keeping it in a cabinet is easier and likely cheaper as well.

I will have to check for the pet proof cans. Unfortunately my garbage disposal will not allow me to put the container under the sink.
