I've been growing concerned about my cat, he's 14 years old and we've had him from a kitten.

In his early years he was an outdoor cat and spent most of his time outside, even sleeping sometimes and would even go missing for a day or two at a time. He always came back for food and water and some petting when he wanted it. When he got around the age of 8 he started staying inside, not going out at all and sleeping for most of the day.

About 2 weeks ago he came into my room one day and just jumped up on my bed and stayed there for the day and slept with me for the night on there. At the time I didn't think anything of this, as he'd do this now and again when he wanted some attention, but it's been about 2 weeks and he's stayed in my room day and night sleeping on my bed and with me at night too. He's left my room to go eat and drink like he normally would and I've not noticed a change in his appetite, but has always come back within 5 minuets after he's done to get back on my bed. He was never a really social cat, he hates meeting new people, but now and then he'd come see me or my other family members when he was looking for some love. But this has gotten me worried, he's not left my side if I leave the room. When I go outside to smoke he'll follow me and follow me back in. Same if I go to the toilet. He's not gone to any other family (this might be because I'm out of work currently so I'm in most of the day). On the times I do go out of the house he'll stay in my room waiting for me to come back and not go to anyone else in my family.

Should I be worried? Is this some thing I should take him to a vet for? He seems fine (other than the abnormal behaver) so I don't know.

Your boy's (what is his name?) history is similar to my RB Joji except that I adopted her as an adult. She was semi feral but as she aged she "mellowed" to the point that she not only became a lap kitty but would sleep with me at night. The change in behavior was to me as surprising as it is to you. Everything else about Joji was normal - ate well, played, etc. But as she neared her 15th year with me, she slept more, became less active and then started losing her appetite. I brought her for a check up, nothing bad but the vet prescribed vitamins and appetite enhancers. She left me soon after
.

You could bring your boy to the vet since he is a senior,
