Good morning everyone :wavey: :catguy:

Today's question is

How many hours sleep a night do you normally get ? And/or how many do you need or would like to feel fully refreshed ?

I normally get between 6-7 hours sleep a night :D I can function (sort of) on this amount. :lol3:
But really I need a minimum of 8 hours, preferably 9 hours sleep a night  To actually wake up feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed

Lately I've only been sleeping 6 or 7 hours, which is stretching it for me because I'm exhausted by 9 or 10pm.

Ideally I would like to sleep closer to 9 hours, but if I really had it my way, had no job, had no school, and had no responsibilities, I would have no qualms about sleeping a good 16 hours.
When I came home from vacation 12 hours jetlagged several years back, I slept for 21 straight hours. That was a fantastic sleep.

I don't know what it's like to get a good night's sleep anymore. When Whisper and Bootser were alive, they started meowing and carrying on for breakfast around 3:30 in the morning and it was a constant struggle to get any kind of sleep.

They're both gone now, but BooBoo and Ms. Pepe (Whisper's kids; I swear the whole early morning thing is genetic) are starting to do the same thing, thankfully not as early....around 4:30 or so. We usually get out of bed (notice, I did not say awaken because we're awake!) at 5:00 during the week. Rick has to get ready for work and (before my foot problem) I like to go down to the treadmill and walk 3 miles before getting ready for work. Count in the hairballs that we get during the night sometimes and an occasional puking session with one of the cats and, well.....I don't know, maybe 4 hours of sleep. Rick and I are always tired and sleepy. (And grumpy) On weekends, I usually get up at the same time and give them breakfast, so Rick can grab a couple of extra hours of sleep.

At this point, sleeping in even to 6:00 is considered a luxury. I'd probably need a good 7-8 hours of sleep for months before I'd stop feeling so out of sorts all the time. And sleep is something you can't really make up. Rick has often offered me a night at a local B & B just so that I could spend some time reading and relaxing and then go to bed and awaken when I want to, not when the cats start in....and he's serious.

I get around 7-8 hours, but it's really broken sleep so I never feel refreshed in the morning. I wake up most nights at least 3 times to use the washroom (the joys of pregnancy). In 8-11 weeks, I will have a newborn to take care of so the sleep will only get worse. I just hope he doesn't wake up Aimee and I have to deal with both of them at night.

I get around 7-8 hours. 9 if I can pull it off. I also take 30-minute naps in the day.

I get around 10 or 11 hours of sleep.  There are times I wake up earlier but I get up whenever I feel like it.  I'm retired so no need to get to a job.

I make all my Dr. appointments early afternoon since  having to get up at a certain time is something I really hate to do.

Depends on the night really. I wake up at 6:30am when my boyfriend's alarm goes off for work. So I try to go to sleep around 10 or 11pm.

I usually get 7-8; lately that doesn't feel like quite enough.  I always used to be good with just 7. 5 and a nap in high school.  I've always loved naps.

My husband neeeeeds 8 but does better with 9.  He does not function very well the next day on anything less!

Usually, I get around 7 give or take.  I'm ok with that.  Except on weekends when I'd prefer 8 but hey, you know, because cats...

i try to get a solid 8+ hours sleep each night, but that doesn't always happen. there are occasional nights that i get 6 or 6 1/2 hours sleep, and also nights where i'm extra tired so sleep for 9+ hours. it's pretty rare that i take an afternoon nap, though i will when i feel very tired.

I'm good and ready with 6 hours of sleep, 7 hours at most, any more and I end up having a headache that lasts the whole day.

Seven hours. I'd like eight. I need ten or eleven. I used to go to bed at five o'clock in the afternoon and sleep through, but now I don't get to bed until after eleven and its hard to get up in the morning.

I have terrible insomnia so it varies.  I'd say I need an average of 6 hours sleep.  Sometimes it's broken up, sometimes I get lucky and sleep 9 hours in a stretch.  Naps really help, and oddly enough my naps are 2.5 to 3 hours long.

One of my Facebook friends posted this link, which I thought was kind of funny... "Intelligent People All Have One Thing In Common: They Stay Up Later Than You"
These findings are reported by “Study Magazine” as such:

Bedtimes and wake-up times for Americans in their 20s by IQ.

 Very Dull (IQ < 75)

Weekday: 11:41 pm -7:20 am
Weekend: 12:35 am -10:09 pm

Normal (90 < IQ < 110)
Weekday: 12:10 am -7:32 am
Weekend: 1:13 am -10:14 am

Very Bright (IQ > 125)
Weekday: 12:29 am -7:52 am
Weekend: 1:44 am -11:07 am
According to this little breakdown, I'm apparently off-the-radar-stupid
During the week when I'm in school and often exhausted, I would go to bed around 9:30 or 10 and wake up around 6 or 7 (depending on schedule). On weekends and when I'm out of school, I still go to bed around 10 or 11 and wake up around 7 or 8.
