My kitten started to unwell on Sunday morning, was lethargic and not eating or drinking, i could feel hot he was just by touching him.  By Sunday evening he was vomiting and had diarrhea.  I took him to the vet on Monday morning and was told i had a very sick kitten, the vet took his temp and it was 106.  He have him a shot of antibiotics and that was it, no advice and no blood tests.  I have tried to make him comfortable but he refuses to get out of his litter box and is caked in kitty litter due to the diarrhea and vomit, I am trying to gently rub him down but i am getting nowhere fast.  I am forcing water into him by a syringe into the side of his mouth.  I really need help and fast, i cant bear watching him suffer.

The vet didn't offer any advice or to keep him there? Please call a different vet and tell them you have an emergency and ask to have him seen ASAP. This doesn't sound like something you can nurse better on your own, especially if he has since declined. Kittens don't last long when dehydrated or ill and untreated. Best of luck for you and the little guy!

Your vet should have prescribed Flagyl for your kitten's diarrhea because that is a serious problem. Please take your kitten to another Veterinarian.

Also, the vet probably should have given your kitten a shot of Benadryl too.

Thanks pinkdigger, I live in Ireland and where i live the vets don't provide the kind of tlc or medical approach to pets as in other parts of the world.  Very much the matter of fact attitude and its only a cat / dog / hamster not the beloved member of a persons family.  My kids are distraught, i'm in tears, we don't know what it is so i'm terrified of letting my other 2 older cats in from the garage ( i put them in there when my kitten started showing signs of sickness).  I just don't know what i can do.

I'm very sorry to hear that's the case. Are there no other offices nearby you can call up and see if they can provide treatment? I definitely understand the frustration of the vibes you get from vets who are relatively indifferent, but I think it goes without saying that all clinics are different. Where one vet may just be looking to rush you and your kitten out the door, another may see this as an urgent situation and work with you to get him better, or at the very least offer some advice. It never hurts to call, or call the vet you already saw for a consult on how to proceed on your own, if they think that's an appropriate route.

I don't have experience with kittens, fevers, or diarrhea so I'm hoping other more experienced people will be able to log on and help. I've seen some suggestions for diarrhea like a 50/50 mix of pedialyte and water, but better to receive that suggestion from someone who has experience with it.
Fingers crossed for your little one.

I suggest taking the kitten to the vet and getting him fluids (demand this if necessary.) A small dose of steroids can help bring a fever down as well (this would need to be injected, not oral.)

A fever of 106 is very serious as I believe you are aware. I certainly would go to another vet if the current one is not willing to assist at all.

Another trip to the vet is definitely in order since you've seen no improvement.  Demand fluids to keep him hydrated.  If possible, seek out a new vet.

Kittens can die very quickly if they don't have fluids. Is there an emergency vet that you can go to? Call around to vets and see which one well hate to say it.. but actually cares. I am sorry.. you can't call yourself a vet when you essentially just think of an animal as someone's property or generally don't care as long as you get paid. No vet should ever let the kitten leave because obviously that little kitten needs a lot of vet care. I really hope you find a great vet to help your poor kitten :(

Thanks Guys for all your replys.  I brought Nuada back to the vet yesterday and he did administer another antibiotic and some fluids into his stomach, I was to bring him back this morning for more treatment.  Unfortunately my beautiful little man, he was a blue pointed Ragdoll lost his fight for life at 3.20am, I was with him at the end so hopefully he had some comfort in that.  My main concern now is making sure my home is sterile before I allow my other 2 kitties in from the garage.  I joined yesterday in a rush to get help and thankyou for doing so.  I will give you a bit of background info about my family now i have time.

I have 4 kids, 1 rabbit, 9 dogs (8 puppies) they are Shih Tzus and 2 cats, I'm the cat lover in the house.  I always say to people the difference between a dog and a cat is simple, when a cat loves you, you know you have earned it.  They are both domestic cats the oldest is Tiddlies who is 3 and is a brindle coloured female, she is my precious little Queen Bee and Toots who is 2 and is a black smoke colour, and is a cheeky greedy thief of a princess (she steals food when she thinks i'm not looking).  They dont get along but tolerate each other (they are both spayed), when Nuada came along everything kind of clicked and both cats loved him and became more friendly towards each other.   For a brief time there was complete harmony.

I'm so sorry Nuada lost his battle. That's shocking treatment from the vet. He should have done more for him right at the start.
