My cat was Neutered yesterday!

yesterday morning my 5 year old cat got neutered, and everything went well and hes fine! He got home yesterday afternoon and the vets said he would be very sleepy and stuff, but all hes done is moan to go out and hes not even a little bit tired, it will catch up with him in the end so he has a good rest, but he was so energetic! I can't wait until hes healed and back to normal so he can not use the litter tray! lol.
Also, when I go out I don't want to leave him to walk around the house so I have to keep him in a cage (that is more and enough space for him) with some water, but when he gets in there he hates it and trys pushing it with his nose and hes so strong! I put him in there overnight lastnight because I have had no sleep keeping an eye on him. I just feel cruel when I put him in there even if I go out in the day for a few hours I've got to put him in there! any suggestions on what to do or not do?? thankyouuu

Instead of a cage, what about just locking him in a bedroom or bathroom with his food, water, and litter? I think cages and crates are a little harder for cats to bear because they can see the "outside world" they want to be in. You can try to condition it as a good place to be, like tossing treats in there and then giving him pets when he relaxes inside.
