Hello, I joined this site because i need some help, I've done pros and cons on Taste of the Wild cat foods, and Earthborn Holistic cat food.

I'm not sure wether to pick the dry or the wet or both. the reason im looking to change from Friskies Indoor Delites, is because i have a sphynx cat and the friskies makes her skin stinky and oily. Plus her poos dont smell great but not "Oh my goodness run" bad. I could not find any decent Cons and only one Pro on EarthBorn Holistic.

I really want the best for my cats, because i've had too many errors over the years of having cats as pets and seeing my parents older cats in 2008 go through puking blood and then being put down. My current eldest cat is literally peeing outside the cat box but is not showing any signs of sickness and i think this "miscalculation" is due to the feed i'm feeding him which is "Friskies Seafood Delites" I read that both Taste of the wild and Earthborn Holisitc cat food is great but then on TOTW there is a lot of people that dont like it and there are those that do like it. I understand it mostly depends on how the cat reacts to the food. so this is basically where i need help. I'll list some questions and if anyone can provide answers i would be so greatful.

1: is grain free the right way to go? I dont have any cats that are allergic to grains at all. However i have had people tell me that feeding grain free foods to your cat is kind of taking a risk because its not the grain that is bad for them, it is more of the amount of ingredients in the foods. so I'm not sure what to believe.

2: what other foods have you tried that were high quality? would you recommend them?

3: is Wet food better than dry? or is both together a pretty good idea?

4: how expensive is a raw diet? i've been thinking about doing raw diet if the dry foods dont work, i just am so scared because people have told me that raw dieting CAN and WILL kill your animals if not done properly which i've never done a raw diet for cats or dogs before.

5:  If you own a sphynx please speak up i would greatly appreciate it, how much luck have you had with Earthborn Holistic cat foods?

thanks to all who answer.

We do have a nutrition forum.  At the top in a blue box you will find articles with a lot of good info in them http://www.thecatsite.com/f/64/cat-nutrition

There is also a raw and homecooked diet sub forum http://www.thecatsite.com/f/65/raw-home-cooked-cat-food   It also has the articles in a blue box at the top.  Yes you do have to be careful with making your food.

In general I believe that a wet low-carb diet is best.  Some foods that are grain free are still high in carbs.

There are several good commercial foods available.  I believe the two that you mention are good.  Of course kitty has a big vote in the matter, kitties tend to be very opinionated in what food they like to eat.
