A newbie :)

Hi all.... I have browsed this site numerous times. I have a cat on a staycation at my home for the past few months. I offered to watch my friends cat while she moves and get settled what was supposed to be a few days turned into months. Which I absolutely love, she is sweet and sticks to me like glue most times.

Her name is summer
This weekend at petsmart just browsing for more toys for summer. I walked past the cats and immediately fell in love with him. Once I held him it was sealed I had to adobt him a 3 month old handsome kitten. Which I named Prince Dicaprio (Dicaprio for short). He is so playful and inquisitive - I sat for hours just looking at him explore. .

Summer was not the happiest with him but as you can see he is making his presence known. This morning both of them laid in my bed like civil cats as I got dressed I stood there with a silly grin for a moment until I realized I was about to be late for work.

Welcome! You know, you're incredibly lucky. When we introduced our second cat, we had to keep them separate for the first several weeks. Every time Bertha saw Mr. Grimsby through the glass door, she would launch herself at it so hard that she knocked herself back into the middle of the room. It took a long time to calm her down enough to meet him face-to-face the first time. Then, it was several more weeks before they were allowed to hang out together.

I understand, though, that we're pretty lucky, too. I know people whose cats have done serious damage to one another. So far as we know, no one has taken a plug out of anyone else yet. Let's hope it stays that way!

And I hope Summer and DiCaprio have a long and happy life together (assuming your friend has donated Summer to you ;-)

I know I have heard some stories of how long the process maybe. I'm glad your cats are getting along and I have been leaving them alone together the past few days. Dicaprio enjoys playing with Summer even though she would care not to be bothered. The turning point was when summer started to smell him and initiate play. Even then certain things were off limits like trying to eat out her food bowl now if Dicaprio tries she doesn't hiss she doesn't even get upset if he is playing with her toys. I ha e showered Dicaprio with tons of toys and all of his own personal items however he can't help but use Summers now and then. It makes me so happy to see them playing together and enjoying each other.

Welcome to TCS!  Sweet kitties!  You are very lucky that you didn't have to do the whole introduction thing with them.
