Hi Everyone..new cat mom here....took my Maya bear to the vet today suspecting a UTI (lots of trips to the box, very little urine). She really, really hates the vet apparently. I heard her from the other room, yowling & growling like crazy (I wanted to cry, actually). Then she got loose somehow and bit another vet! She sounded like a rabid animal.

The (non injured) vet said she was prone to anxiety (like some humans are...like me, interestingly enough...), and basically if she ever came back, Maya would need to be sedated before treatment, for the good of the vet and pet.

Anyway, I'm concerned about her stress. She's had her moments when I'm like, woah, calm down...but chalked it up to kitten energy (mostly. she's almost a year) and quirkiness. Her "crazy bursts" seem to happen around breakfast and when the recycling truck is outside. But if she's truly stressed, I want to fix it as much as possible. My vet suggested the thing that plugs into the wall and releases hormones that calm the cat....but...

does anyone else have anxious cats and what do you do to help? (ps, I'm in a city apartment). thanks!

Sounds like the vet was referring to a Feliway diffuser.  That might very well help.  I have used them with good success for different situations with stressed cats.  There are also calming collars and treats you could try.
