Hi, my names Nicky and I am owned by 2 gorgeous Ragdolls, Ozzy and Gizmo.

I am the first to admit that the amount of knowledge I have about cats could be written on my little finger after being a dog owner only for many years.

Well after researching which breed would be best for us, we chose 2 ragdoll kittens from different litters. Ozzy is 16 weeks old and Gizmo 15 weeks old (he was also the runt of the litter)

I had been wondering about Gizmo's sex after Ozzy's balls became apparent quite soon and Gizmo didn't appear to have any. However, I had them microchipped the other day and the lady who came to do it (herself a cat breeder) said that Gizmo is a girl!  I've scrolled through photos online, I've read up every article I could, I've looked at all the photos on here and I'm still none the wiser! They'd both been vet checked and had injections when they came to us so I've had no need to go to the vet. There is quite a large distance from the anus but still no sign of testicles. I've tried 'feeling' looking for a penis and I think the poor kitty is sick to death of me by now! I'd appreciate any opinions. Apologies for the 'kitty porn'

the area below the anus does look like testicles but its just fur. I've felt behind and there is definatily nothing there. bearing in mind he's now 15 weeks, should they not be growing a bit?

Anyway heres a photo all all of him cos I feel awful just introducing his backside!! lol

thanks very much in advance!! nicky  xx

Oh no he definitely wasn't neutered.  Maybe he's just slow at developing. thank you for your reply. xx

Welcome to the site :wavey:

He is a boy - the gap is far to large to be a girl also girls have a dot and then slit. Your boy is dot gap dot, so I'm pretty certain he is a boy :D

Even though they have been vet checked before you got them. You should always get them checked over by your own vet ASAP after you get them. I'm surprised the breeder didn't tell you to do this, most have it written into there contracts. Some breeders will happily lie and hide things so always best to get them fully heath checked for any under lying health problems.

It sounds like your little boy has got retained testicles. Which means when he is neutered the vet will needs to explore further to find them. No biggie but it can cost more than a standard neutering as more work involved.

He must be neutered if the testicals are retained - in both dogs and cats retained testicals are very likely to cause cancer if not removed ;)

Oh thank you so much!! I just feel better for knowing as its been driving me insane! Oh I actually have it marked down on my calendar to start thinking of getting them neutered. There arn't any early neutering centres locally so they are now at the age when we can take them to our own vet. We certainly don't want intact Ragdolls, the thought of them going looking for the ladies terrifies me. I already lost my first cat (was spayed) so I'm not going through that again. Ragdolls arn't  very well equipped to cope with the outdoor world. thanks for your advice, its very much appreciated. xx

He's probably cryptorchid :/. If they haven't dropped by 12 weeks they almost certainly aren't going to. This will mean a more complicated (and expensive) neutering surgery, because the vet will have to go into the abdominal cavity looking for the testicles. But in the long run, no big deal :D.

But he's definitely a boy, no worries there.
