My kitty is a year old. Has had two bouts of blood tinged vomiting. Vet put her on Hills ZD.She was fine with that for four months ,stopped even touching the ZD .So I gave her Friskies ,chicken/gravy,finely chopped a few times daily. That went well for one week. Now we are back to square 1.She began vomiting after four days of eating Friskies can food(which she loves)Took her to the vet. She gave her a shot to help stop nausea and an appetite stimulator pill. She hates the ZD. They put her on AD. But only until Monday. I don't know what she will eat after that!

Hello and so sorry about getting to your thread late but wanted to see about having your thread moved to Nutrition. I do think this problem may be diet related since she was on the Z/D for four months with no problem and when you put your cat back on the Friskies the vomiting started once again. Could be related to an ingredient allergy and that can be a bit difficult to pinpoint exactly which one. You may want to try one of the many limited ingredient canned foods that some brands have to offer.

I will ask that you thread be moved to Nutrition now and let's see if someone has a better suggestion for you. :cross: :vibes:

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions. She has refused to eat the Royal Canin for allergies, for several days. So two days ago ,I put her back on the Hills ZD dry food. So far so good. She is eating it,at least for the time being, I am keeping a close eye on her water intake also.Any and all suggestions always appreciated.

Have you tried proteins other than chicken?   I know the Hills has chicken in it but it is hydrolized (sp) which means it's broken down into the amino acids.  When they do that the body doesn't recognize it as chicken so it won't cause a reaction.  I would try one of the limited ingredient foods in a protein that she hasn't had before, you can find food with a lot of different proteins.  I would try something like lamb or rabbit initially in a simple food that has very little beyond the meat and supplements.  Nature's Variety and Wild Calling are two and there are others.

Initially I would avoid poultry, it sounds like there may be an issue with chicken.  Sometimes it is just chicken and sometimes it is all poultry.

Thanks, will definitely look into this. She coughed up a hairball this week also. I have given her Malt Excel for a few days as per vet's suggestion. Said once a week to give 1/4 tsp. Hoping that will help also. Poor little thing. It has really been a rough two weeks for her.

I just attempted to give my cat a small amount of Royal Canin. She refused it. I'm reading these letters and find them really disturbing. I will not be offering her any more of it. Most definitely not! Thank you so much!!
